sorry if I´m wrong, for the moment you can´t use the "importance sampling check button" (it's a shame)in the HDRI map when you mix the octane sun system with a HDRI environment MAP.
Can you explain this some more pls? I wasn't aware there was an issue with this. If using a HDR or EXR map - make sure the gamma is 1.

Hi Face...I´m sorry but in this moment I have installed archicad 18..I´ll try explain the situacion with a 3ds max Interface image...and some images...all of them have 200 samples/pxl, so the differences are more evident, and all of them are identified with. kernel, time, and other characteristics (only hdri, hdri + sun, etc)
The issue is that when you put a hdri + sun..for the moment(I hope) it´s no posible connected a environment node (with the checkbox for "importance sampling" posibility), the only option is a RGB image map.

my english it´s limited, please forgive that ;) ;)

PD: making the renders, I noticed the importance sampling option almost double the rendertimes in both kernels..I don´t remember if this is normal.. :(

Saludos.

My understanding is that importance sampling takes some time to pre-calculate, but then renders quicker. So you would probably need to render for more than 200 samples to see the benefit of importance sampling. If there is an issue, try replicating it in Octane Standalone - and you can then report it as a general Octane issue - since it's unlikely to be a plugin problem.
