Elboko for inspiring me to do this! You rock man!
gordonrobb wrote:And what does the CG eye look like? :)How complex is your model in terms of the different Specular materials. I'm assuming you have the Sclera, the lens and the vitreous humor. But do you have more than that. Also, is your iris a displacement map (V2)? And is the body of the eye (choroid?) also made with a specular material or glossy? and are you using a medium node also?
No no, nothing like that, it's actually very simple, it's made of two objects, one with the veins and the iris and another one with the sclera and the cornea. I don't care to make a model anatomically correct at the moment, I just want something that looks plausible.

Yes, the pipil can dilate/contract easily, just by scaling the iris uv's with a soft-selection. I could make a controller for that in Maya, but I'm lazy

All facial hair (eyelashes, eyebrows, etc) are groomed in 3DS Max using Ornatrix, then imported in Maya, converted in nHair and tweaked there. The material is just a simple Glossy material, with high Index value, something like 2 or 3.
Soon I will upload an updated version.

Can't add any original comments here. Everything has already been said. Folks, it really won't be THAT long from now, when you can don a 3D helmet and you'll just feel like your looking out into the real world through a visor.

Only thing spoiling it (and I use that term loosely) is the lack of camera/cameraman in the reflection

Great work !
Trying to be a little more constructive, here are my 2cts :
- The skin is a bit too waxy
- Iris borders seems too sharp to me
Cheers
