Hi mbetke, thank you for the elaborate explanation.
However, the noise reduction alters the look of the render too much and generates artifacts in the image.
I guess for now I will use a biased renderer to solve this project.

I just used the noise reduction to show how quickly the noise could be reduced. Of course such a SSS scenario looks a bit flat and blurry with such a few samples for indoor.
Basically all you have to do is use my settings and let it render with PMC kernel to 10.000-16.000 samples. If it takes to long for you to render then render a bigger image size and reduce it around 50% in size later.

If I only had to render single frames then I guess it would be possible, but with 10+ hours per frame in an animation it's not doable in my timeframe... Thank you for the feedback mbetke!

Well then you could only us DL kernel but its not looking nice with SSS.
But 10 hours even in HD? Maybe you could team up with someone and pay for rendering some frames.
