Thanks for the answer,
I have resample some textures to lower resolution to resolve the problem.

I'm having trouble with scene size crashing. I have 4 gtx 690 gpus with 2 gig each and have them all selected in preferences but no matter whether I am using 1 or all 4 gpus I get the gpu failure red text of death. I have sli turned off but I don't think Octane is using all 4 gpus. Is it possible to load an 8 gig file in octane if you have (4) 2 gig gpus and if so how do I do it? If I reduce the number of objs in my scene I can get it to open. I realize I've hit the size brick wall but I just want to make sure it's a brick wall for all 4 and not just one of my gpus.

the vram won't sum up. every gpu is calculating the complete scene in parallel, so every gpu needs to load everything into vram (geometries, textures, ...). in your case this means 2gb is the maximum available amount. afaik the standalone will also show exactly this amount (minus used vram by other software) in the stats...

Also I believe there is an issue with recent nvidia drivers where they won't recognise more than 5 gpu. Not sure if this is resolved yet but as a workaround you can get another gpu working ie 3 xGTX690 by using software openGL for display purposes via the preferences. Otoy guys should be able to give you a fuller answer about the drivers. You would be better to use 4 Titans (6gb work space) for heavy arch-viz stuff. Also these draw 50w less power each. Render speed is the same as the 690s. 680 and 670 come in 4 gb variants too. BTW you need about 5x system ram as the vram for each card so say 24 gb for 4gb and 32gb for 6gb.
Make sure your power supply is big enough to drive 4 cards. You will need a quality 1600w minimum for your present rig.
HTH

Edit: I see perhaps you have 2 GTX690 ie 4 gpu of 2gb each and not 4 GTX 690 but I'll leave this anyway. ;)
If you only have 2 then you might recover some work space by off loading the windows display either to another el cheapo card if it will fit in the mobo or using the software openGL option.

quadro 2000 only scene (primary slot) - not render
2 x gtx680 octane - result fast renders
