you are fixing bugs that come with Maya :) Great

I will check out the dmp file and verbose messages soon.
Thanks

Interestingly Maya color input attributes have always behaved like this and I always saw it as a feature or a quirk rather than a bug. The returning to grey if the slider is moved fully to the left saves you needing to go to the mixer if you just want to ditch the color.
Not a big issue for me and I'm ok with this behaviour being different in Octane to Maya's usual behaviour (I see benifits to both behaviours) but it'd be good to know what other Maya users think before we start changing default behaviour.

Checked it.
It is the Maya's bug in its UI color control. Just try to create standard Maya's "lambert" and play with its "Color" attribute... You will get the same...
I will try to hack it some way later (I think I know how to do it), added it to my TODO...
don't hack this issue, they are fixing it with a hotfix to SP2 (so they told me). It has to do with the way they handle HSV (it "forgets" hue)

Also, thanks so much for a Kepler build.

My firm is trying to convince Autodesk to co-sponsor a museum exhibit in LA with us. This will be most helpful for our pitch...

Jim,

It is real to do http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do1kzR6gVYk render region like in this video? In start of video.

Thanks!

No.

Jimstar - everything is working well thanks, a small graphical UI glitch in the hypershade for diffuse shaders with emitters but it doesn't seem to affect rendering - i'm sure you seen it - its a funny gradient effect on the hypershade icons.

Also I'm not sure its a good idea to try and change the colour slider effect - its always been like this since I can remember.

No, I have not seen it... Can you please post the screenshot of how it looks?..

OK, I agree, I will not change it.;) Lets wait Maya's developers will do something with it...)

seems to happen on all shaders with emiiters, including mix materials, diffuse with blackbody, diffuse with texture emitter etc.
renders fine.
but I also noticed that -sometimes- a black body emitter will not emit if the diffuse colour of the shader is pure black, if you give it a tiny bit of luminance it switches "on"

hmm - i had a texture emission shader ( mix material 50% blend, diffuse with texture emmision + specular, black shiny) that was often not showing its diffuse channel in the render until I used the slider on the texture emision value and hit the render button again ( ipr) , it didn't seem to matter where it was as long as i slid it.
After some experimentation I selected the geometry it was applied to and took it out of the group it was in and now it renders every time.....??? ( well so far..)
