Way to go Radiance & Team. The brightest ideas come up from the most difficult circumstances. I have a feeling of total confidence in what you guys are doing, no matter what it is, lol. I'm sure you'll get the job done and surpass our expectations.

Add another positive point to Octane, the sincerity of its dev team and the closeness to their community ;)

regards,
Alvaro

I don't mind, MLT or "RLT" (your special version.. :) ), pls excuse as I'm not totally tech-ed up.. Is that to do with light through trans?
I ask this as getting light through transparent items is probably the biggest feature I have been waiting for in Octane..
ps.. I'm not bugging, bemoaning the fact, or trying to hurry you up, just wanted to clarify where it sat in the dev pipeline re this post.

Cheers!

For some time ago it was said that the MLT algorithm wouldn't support older Geforce card, will this new algorithm have the same problem? Or will it be compatible with older cards like the 9800?

not sure yet, probably not, and in the first release yes, afterwards we'll see.
we should try to make a better poll system to see what distribution we have in GPU architecture in the customer base.

I wouldn't put too much weight into that, as your software is the kind of thing that drives the purchase of new hardware ( I upgraded to a 260 just for Octane ). plus developing for aging hardware is a waste of resources unless you have such a large percentage of your current potential market using it, that they need to have it supported just so that they can use and see how your tool works.

Hey guys

I read some disappointment here and there and just wanted to leave on opinion here.

Bunkspeed Shot, which license the IRay (Mental Images) is offering just plain path tracing.
I am also not aware of any other engine - but I might be wrong here - but pretty sure.

GPU is just not CPU, but when the GPU and pathtracing can and is significantly faster then
Pathtracing which needs speed ups with the CPU it might look like a draw back of the GPU.
But you need to concider that the GPU runs the pathtracer significantly faster then the CPU.

I am not a paid customer or sales person for Radiance by the way.
