If the viewer above does not display correctly for your device, you can load the viewer directly.

Here is my WIP image for the Metaverse competition. I would like to upload this as final entry, if anyone would be so nice, to verify that this cubemap works on his gear vr.

It´s a whole new thing for me, to arrange a 360 stereo image without any control, where the viewer will look at. I experimented a lot with different distances and objects with different sizes, and tried to make it kind of interesting.

This size of complexity ist all i could render with my 3GB 780s . It took over 10 hours for 4011 samples.

As i said: if anyone will test this, it would be nice. Not sure, if i have the time to change anything until monday, depends on how big the possible mistakes i made are :o)

Thanks for watching, Chriz

Hi Tom,

thanks for commenting!

My "VR-rig" is a Nexus 5 and a cardboard :( I tried this as stereospherical to check depth. Works somehow, but it´s not very immersive.

Really want to dive more into this VR-thing, but it´s difficult without the correct device.

Have a nive day,

Chriz

This is great.

I tested this with Virtual Desktop / DK2. Scales seems to be right. Only things I would fix are that the control panel should be further away, it´s now too close ..say half a meter / one meter away.. then I would set the eye distance to 75 mm to make it more immersive. I did set in my new cafe maestro render (which isn´t uploaded yet) to 85 mm and it looks much better. In your scene where the control panel needs to be somewhat close, I would guesstimate 75 mm..

Hey Risto,

thanks for your comment! I appreciate!

Camera to center of the controlpanel is about 10 times the eye distance of 65mm. Recommended is about 10x to 20x the distance. Maybe it´s to close... would really like to get an impression myself ;)

If i chance the eyedistance, i may have to increase the distance even more. Doing so, i am not sure, if it still looks like if you are standing right in front of it ...

I will think about it!

Tricky thing, maybe it could help too if it were a bit higher? These panos tends to curve little bit when looking down, so this might not be ipd related issue..

Safe thing would be to push it little bit further and little bit higher..?

May be a solution. Not sure, if and when i will have time to render it again. Thanks for the information about curving.
