(Video) Basic Live Viewer and Viewport Textures Do Not Match

Hi there. I have a simple spline that I've applied an Octane texture to, but it does not match the Live Viewer.

Here is a short video (<2 minutes) that goes into a little more detail:

Here's a stillshot of the problem:

Here's the file (196kb):

Thanks!

Hi,
if you use C4D Gradient you are quite limited.

Here is the same setup, but with Octane nodes:

You can use the Octane Gradient Generator that has a Repetition parameter, and to have the Transform node to animate the position, and an Octane Gradient mapper to have the Clamp/Step distribution:

Hi Beppe! Thank you for providing this example file. I'm new to nodes so if you don't mind bearing with me. Using your file, I had a few questions:

1. When I scroll through the timeline, I see the texture changing but only after a very long period of time (sometimes several minutes), is there a way to have this update in real time?
2. Is there a way to make the cylinders adhere to the shape of the spline? Because as it stands, at specific angles the texture stretches out and is unusable. Example:

I did notice that your Octane does not have this:

Unsure how important that is.

I may be speaking through ignorance but it appears that when I open your file I only have one repition, and you have 6. I've made a video of me opening your project and added some additional (optional) context if interested:

https://youtu.be/7ZxDJiQ3BxU [HD is currently processing as of 2:55pm CST]. At the part when waiting for the texture to refresh you can skip 4:04 through 4:51.

Thanks again!

Hi,
please upgrade c4octane to 2021.1.7:
viewtopic.php?f=85&t=80351

or even better to 2022.1-R7:
viewtopic.php?f=85&t=80831

Then reopen my scene and report back, thanks.

ciao,
Beppe

Looks like OSL mode of Gradient is not working well with tiles. Then please try what this baking mode. Be careful it takes more CPU time to convert shader to texture if you use high values.
