isnt it true that otoy is going to integrate the speed of brigade real time pathtracing into octane render?

does this mean with one good video card like 980ti or 1080, we can get real time tracing, totally making a 14x watercooled gtx 1080 machine for example by smicha totally unnecessary?

i am looking at buying 5 used 980 ti and watercooling, or some brand new 1080 or 1080 ti, or even some used titan z on ebay 800usd.. i cant decide, i dont know know what to do, i have 3 gtx 780 now and really need to speed up rendering times for my projects i am working on. this why i also why i want to buy used, and then sell again once brigade comes if i am accurate on what is going to happen.

plz help thx

Sorry, but this does not make any sense - first 2xZ draw more power than 7x980ti under water, and 400W more than 7x1080 on water. And 2xZ score 40% of 7x1080 on water or even less. 1070 is at comparable price as 980ti and is power efficient drawing 85W. Watercooling 5 gpus makes no sense, 4 or 7 is the way. Mixing cards leads to tons of problems.

Waiting.... yes - but we know nothing. Even 1080 ti may never come.

Okay..when should we expect brigade merger to octane 4.. with blender?

Also in the time being..smicha or anyone else weigh in here cuz i really need to move forward with faster rendering.
What are best options?
Used gtx 980ti? Why not 5? I dont have any more slots unless i change my motherboard and cpu if i have to.

Or 5 1080s?

Is 1080 rendering faster than 980ti? I guess i have to consider power draw more in my decision for power supply or monthly utility bill. I have 1600w evga psu right now with 3 gtx 7806gb but prob just take those out and put in faster cards and hopefully learn how to watercool them myself.

Plz let me know..and thx very much to all who have replied. Much appreciated.
Cheers

on 1600W you may connect 7x980 ti - 1350W-1450W. 7x1080 will draw 900W. If you are on aircooling use risers to connect extra cards. Watercooling is not possible this way.

how do you want to watercool 5 gpus?

im pretty sure theres only 5 pcie slots in total, how would it be possible for 7 even with dvi ports cut?

and ya i guess 5 wouldnt even fit without cutting dvi ports? i gota even see what im cutting i dont even know. Pardon my lack of knowledge here im trying to learn how to do this. Because I really need faster rendering times for the projects im working on
