Render any mesh as points/particles

It would be great to have the option to render any mesh's points as particles, like in Houdini. Just having that 'particle rendering' tab enabled on the Octane Object tag for all kinds of meshes would be very helpful to me. The main reason would be for rendering an alembic particle point cache in C4D. If you import a point cache and put an octane object tag on it, you don't get the option to render as particles, which seems like an obvious option to me.

On the same note, why not be able to render any mesh's edges as hair too? Again, seems like a simple but obvious thing. When you put the octane object tag on a spline you get the 'render as hair' option, but when you put the tag on a regular mesh the 'render as hair' doesn't do anything.

Is there any reason this would be difficult? It's the basic functionality in houdini so maybe wouldn't be too hard to implement?

Thanks!

Rory.

Everything is difficult, nothing simple as put a tag and click a checkbox. In back needs to be coded for a support.
