2. That the issue is specific to this plugin, and not Octane in general (Try reproducing it in Standalone)
Bugs related to the Octane Engine itself should be posted into the Standalone Support sub-forum.


All bug reports should include the information below, along with a detailed description of the issue and steps to reproduce it.
A. Operating System, including version (i.e. Win 7, OSX 10.11.2, Ubuntu 14.04, etc.)
B. Graphics Card(s) model (i.e. GTX 580 - 3GB, TITAN, etc.)
C. RAM Capacity (i.e. 6 GB)
D. Nvidia driver version (i.e. 7.50, 7.5.22)
E. OctaneRender Standalone version, if installed (i.e. 2.24.2, 2.23, etc.)
F. OctaneRender plugin version (i.e. v2.25 - 2.21)
G. Host application version, including build number if available (i.e. 3ds Max 2016 Build 18.0)
H. A detailed description of the issue and steps to reproduce it (Include Screenshots or video capture), as well as an example scene if applicable.
I. Copies of the Octane Log window and Console window outputs (full text attached as a file to your post is recommended).


Please note that reports of issues inside existing threads will be ignored/removed, and reports may be closed if the reporter does not respond to subsequent queries in the thread.

Team Render & OCIO

Ok, i have an issue with Team render and OCIO.

In the default scenario it works great, however if frames need to be re-assigned, there seems to be an issue.

Here are the steps i think are happening
1. Start teamrender, distribute frames over pc's (all pc's will render fine including OCIO)
2. When frames get redistributed (e.g. a new set gets asigned to a pc because one is quicker than another), this pc drops out with the message "Select some OCIO color space!!!"
3. this happens to each and every system that needs to get new frames. Due to this messsage being an octane message, c4d doesn't kick it out of the teamrender group and thus waits for its frames.
4. when we click the message, it gets kicked out of teamrender and another pc is assigned.
5. due to every pc losing its OCIO color space reference after getting reassigned, the render fails with ~10% of the frames left.

From what i can see.
A. There is no problem with OCIO as all pc's work for the first entire batch, till reassignment. (i have tried to move it to C://, i have tried to make it an environment variable), same thing.
B. This is not version related, as i had this since C4D 2022 and octane 2021 and have just ran into the same issue in C4D 2024 and Octane 2023.
C. i cannot fix this without developer help.

What seems to be the issue
Primary: some ocio relinking is not triggered upon the second frame assignement by team render. (or for some other reason octane suddenly says "Select some OCIO color space!!!"
Secondary: when pc has issue with octane, it doesn't get kicked out of team render team, and therefore host waits for it till button is clicked, it should be kicked regardless of the button being clicked. Otherwise headless rendering is pretty pointless. :)

You need to copy "oct.dat" from prefs of master C4D which is set to proper OCIO config to "Cinema4Dxxxxxxx_c/teamrender_client" directory. This directory can be found under preferences part in the Client.

I found it's a different issue just happens with clients in Net render mode. I'm trying a fix...
