HDR sky randomly drops out during renders

This has affected me since moving to octane 2022 from 2021. When rendering images in the render queue, projects will randomly render all hdr skies as 100% black. Lights still work, its just the sky that fails. It affects the c4d render queue and the "render all takes to picture viewer". If an image renders black, I can immediately re-render without changing anything, and it will render fine.

There is no rhyme or reason to when this happens. It affects all projects randomly and affects multiple different systems, All textures are in the local /tex folder. It is a boring exr texture that I have used a thousand times before, theres no weird filenames or network paths. I can't send a file because there is no specific project which causes it, the problem just randomly occurs every 100 or so renders. It happened 3 times yesterday on my local workstation (GF3090, ryzen 5950x, 128gb, win 11) and twice on our render machines (2x 4090, 2x4090, 5x quadro p6000)

Has anyone else come across this? If it were just my machine then I might be able to blame a driver, but this is affecting multiple systems all at the same time.

Octane 2022.1
c4d 26.101

There is a change to avoid reloading of environment texture for immediate update. It doesnt re-create the related part.
Only problem that could cause this I can think. But needs to know that's happening when you render several scenes in queue or single scene rendering.

This is mostly when using a single .c4d project file with multiple takes to switch between cameras and lighting rigs, this can include hiding one octane sky and showing a different one.

I have in fact just had it happen to me for the first time (that ive noticed) in the live view too. I switched from one take to another where it hides one sky and shows another, but the live view went dark as if there is no sky. I clicked once on the main send to octane button in the live view window, and the live view then corrected itself with the hdr sky working.

But again, this is totally random, I can render 10 images and have it happen 3 times; or I can render 100 images and have it not happen at all. This is on a brand new project file I have just started today.

There is strange issue when object manager and takes manager are opened at the same time. Try to have opened only one manager at once or make takes manager as tab :

I'm checking it... Smolak, you may be correct. I cannot reproduce it unless having Takes window open. I'll test with different C4D versions and cases too. It may be a message timing issue in C4D side and affects the our calculations.

I do have the takes window docked into my UI and visible permanently, I'll try tabbing it behind the object manager and see if this changes anything.

Doesn't help, just had it kill a render even when the takes window wasn't visible. This is now with the R6 plugin release.

Still a problem with C4D 2024.2.0 with Octane 2023.1.2

HDR sky just randomly stopped working on a direct render to picture viewer. hit render again and it works with no changes made.

I cannot still see any example scene for your report. So cannot help until you do!

Literally every scene, it will happen with a cube and an hdr sky. I'll send a project privately in a moment but it isnt strictly needed. I've just had it happen again 5 minutes ago, rendering 20 mice and 1 of the shots simply has no sky illumination
