Hi Roul,
it depends on network interface speed.

WiFi is not good, too much latency, we suggest a minimum of 1Gbit Ethernet connection between Workstation and Render-Nodes, better to have 10Gbit or greater, with complex/huge scenes.

Mesh to SDF with field shape texture is extremely slow in render modes other than Direct Lighting. As I remember it worked much faster in previous versions.
Also it freeze C4D if there is no field texture in the scene.
LiveViewer doesn't display Field Shape texture on start - there is need to move slider in texture node to trigger it.

Export to Standalone doesn't include Field texture details.

so far things seem to render ok speed wise now with 3 total nodes my main Mac and 2 pcs... but is the blotchy noise just settings.. or are the different nodes effecting this?
Or do I just need more samples?

I don’t think it’s network speed, everything wired by LAN.. I also have another Mac ( cheese grater) high sierra that runs the super old version that supported network rendering to PC, and that works fine. All connected in the same manner via a local LAN.
Any more thoughts on the problem?

Hi Raoul,
the network interface speed seems slow in your screenshot.

Here is a KitBush scene greater than yours with 10Gbit Ethernet, after 4 seconds the Render-Nodes are already rendering:

And here is the same scene but with 1Gbit Ethernet, the Render-Nodes are starting to render only after 1':23":

Please go to System settings/Network/Ethernet/Details/Hardware and check that everything is correct.

Hallelujah, Thanks.. this prompted me to dig a little deeper. I was wired for lan on the Mac studio.. but looks like it was still using the wifi connection. Switched that off and bingo. Cant say how great it is to finally have network rendering enabled.. that issue alone was keeping me stuck on a 10 year old mac pro that could still run nividia.

thanks Bepe!

Hi Raoul,
great to hear you have found the culprit, well done!

Happy Mac Net GPU rendering!

Now if only the prices of the 10GB switches and TB->10GB dongles came down in price.. the PCI cards are reasonable though at least..
But i would love to put my 2019 macbook pro to work (for something) - add a sonnet box and a gpu and it can quietly live out its last life as a windows based render node.. LOL
