Thank you for the quick reply! We only experienced this issue when updating from C4D 2023.1.3 to 2023.2.0

It's odd because only a few of our computers are having this issue. Most of our workstations have either 1 or 2 3090 video cards which appear to be just fine. One computer with 2x 4090 cards and one with 4x 2080ti cards are hanging right after this line

2023-04-12 14:36:15: 0: STDOUT: Tonemapping the all passes tm:189.931

The next line should be something like

2023-04-12 14:36:15: 0: STDOUT: Displaying passes in tm=61.787

but that never comes even after an hour of waiting. If rendering locally the only way to stop the render is to force close C4D via task manager

I tried running this with the R3 version of the plugin but I'm still having issues. Someone asked me to open a support ticket so I'll be doing that soon!

Thanks everyone!

Wow that was quick, thank you :)
Unfortunately, this R3 doesn't want to load on my PC (C4D 2023.1.3). I downloaded 2 times the .RAR (kept only the R2023). I even restarted the PC... Back to the R2 which loads without problem. (First time it happened to me... weird).

Yeah, it won't load on my Windows C4D 2023.1.3 either. C4D throws up an error that the plugin Octane won't load then lists all of the parts of the plugin. Reverting to R2 it works fine.

I'm not going to upgrade 2023.1.3 (or 2023.2.0 which isn't offered yet here on the Maxon app) until the issues with passes hanging is fixed. (This thread is filled with posts about it.)

R3 is based on latest 2023.2 SDK. And Maxon is saying that's safe to use. How do you say that's not available? There are a mess

Same here, plugin R3 won't load. edit: c4d version: 2023.1.3

I ask again: is the shadow pass bug supposed to be fixed in this plugin rev? Main app SDK seems to have it fixed (according to the changelog). I get a little bit worried since we are approaching a deadling and can't use (but need) the shadow pass in Post.

Not trying to start an argument...but I suppose what's misleading is that the "need" to have updated to 2023.2 to use R3 is not stated at the beginning of this thread. I did find the C4D update...but then my second question was the problem with passes locking up on people using the newer C4D version. Is that fixed?

I think these are two valid points. I'm just wanting to know if by updating C4D to 2023.2 and using R3 everything works as it should — meaning the plugin loads and the passes problem everyone was having is now fixed. That's all.

Otoy support was able to quickly diagnose and fix the render passes issue for me. We had the Save Flag for Post Effects enabled in Render Settings PLUS the Post AOV enabled. After removing the Post Effects in C4D render settings, everything is working fine now. I want to shout out Jay at Otoy support for blazing fast and accurate support!

Thank you, lightborne. This makes me feel a bit easier about upgrading the version I'm on (I assume you were using 2023.2) Really the only solution I've seen so far.

Makes me wonder, did the Post Effects option get turned on for everyone's system that was having problems? Hmmn.

Anyhow, I appreciate the post.
