Hi all,
This is the latest experimental plugin build based on relese candicate 2022.1-RC_1 SDK. Any feedback will be much appreciated. Enjoy it!
This is the Standalone matching Standalone 2022.1 RC 1.

While we're getting closer to a stable release, we advise to not use this release for production purposes yet.

Make sure to use a NVIDIA Studio driver with version at least 456.38 on Windows.

2022.1-RC1-[r2] plugin revisions
  • Scatter object: ratio sliders for effectors
  • Fix: crash in Node editor while deleting some nodes
  • Improvements for snap to nodes feature. More will come
  • Some minor fixes

2022.1-RC_1 plugin revisions
  • Fix: Composite layer node
  • Fix: OCIO color space menu
  • New node snap mode in nodes, it's still wip. It will be improved more in future

2022.1-RC_1 Standalone(Core) revisions
  • Added new blend mode "Ratio" to the Composite texture
  • Change the default daylight environment ground color from blue to black
  • Improved sampling of environment medium, sun, DOF and time.
  • Made coherent ratio less aggressive.
  • Fix layer weight and albedo on macOS in material preview.
  • Fixed multiple issues with AI light on macOS
  • Improve geometric primitive normals by not welding them and keeping the geometric normals for each poly.
  • Fix normals on the cone and other prismoids of the geometric primitive node.
  • Fixed broken undo for render AOV group nodes.
  • Fixed OSL falling back to intializer first rather than vertex attributes (OSL 4.2.4).
  • Fixed an unexpected spectrum to RGB conversion that happens in the Color correction node. This probably reduced color fidelity if this node was used with a spectral color.
  • Fixed: switching from cylindrical to spherical panoramic camera mode, updates FOV Y to 180deg if it was 90deg.
  • Fix always-black environment pass on macOS
  • Fix bump maps in material previews on macOS
  • Added: printed message that notes which node causes OSL warnings after linking
  • Fixed OSL logb() function on macOS
  • Fixed IOR when hitting a glossy layer on exiting a dielectric.
  • Fixed AO rays hitting clipping materials on macOS.
  • Add correct IOR tracking for shadow rays and use correct IOR values on transitions
  • Slightly lowered priority of clipping materials.
  • Fixed clipping material option on macOS
  • Fixed slight bias in SSS effect on standard surface on macOS
  • Fixed reporting of errors from loading OpenVDB files
  • Fixed hang when importing certain VDBs.
  • Fix GPU failure when adding a Normal texture to an environment texture.
  • Make deep imaging work with photon mapping
  • Linux: The native title bar should now be displayed correctly and the application window should no longer cover the system taskbar and launcher upon appliation start, which were problems encountered on some Linux systems (especially using Gnome)
  • Correctly account for the content component border in LUA windows
  • Fix baking camera hanging on macOS when there is no geometry (or only planes)


IN ANY CRASH CASE PLEASE DO THESE!!!
If you see CUDA errors follow 1,2,3,4.
1- Use NVIDIA STUDIO drivers, not Game Ready versions. If you have stability issues try different drivers, some of them could cause instability issues. Make a clean install while doing this to be sure previous files completely removed.
2- Check GPU frequency. Overclocking would cause instability issues
3- Check PSU. Insufficient power output would cause instability issues
4- Check the free amount of GPU's VRAM and system's RAM while working. Low VRAM will/may cause CUDA errors. Be aware of some generator objects will have different triangle count in Picture Viewer than Live Viewer. It’s like “editor/render” parameter. Just try to use the same value. Also try to optimize your scene for polygon count, even use smaller images. Try to use Octane texture nodes rather than using C4D texture/shaders.
Alternatively, use V4 and Out-of-core(OOC) function. Increase RAM for OOC and It should not exceed physical RAM amount. Check TDR value and increase if it's necessary.
5- If you see C4D crashes without CUDA errors, then send us bugreport.zip, screen-shots and video capture to show process and crash moment. Also please send us a sample scene in a format of C4D or ORBX to let us investigate and test it. Alternatively, try to delete/hide some objects/materials until crash gone away. If you find what's causing crashes, send us a sample scene to let us for investigating and bring a fix or solution.
Thanks for helping the development by your feedbacks! It’s impossible to quickly catch every case without user feedbacks! It’s the same procedure as other companies do like Maxon/etc...

Please note the macOS build below will only work correctly on macOS 12.3.1 and newer, and only on Apple Silicon.
Also node previews are working with new style. Switch to old style and use from Node editor menu until we fix it.

Requirements:
-You'll need to update your Cinema 4D to latest versions(R16.050, R17.053, R18.057, R19.053, R20.057, R21.115, S22.118, R23.110, R24.111, R25.117, R26.107). Otherwise, the plugin will not work and not appear in menus.
-Internet connection for activation, be sure that C4D and Octane will not be blocked by the firewall and any antivirus software.
-Nvidia drivers at least Nvidia Studio Drivers(minimum 456.38) and be careful with latest Game Ready drivers which can cause cuda errors. Stay with stable one for you.

Installation
First, remove all octane related stuff from plugins and the main folder of Cinema4D.

Extract all files to Cinema4D\plugins\c4dOctane directory.
Also, download manual.zip and extract to c4dOctane directory if it's not available in place.

There are a few files for each one is for different Cinema4D version. Remove all except the file is for your version.
Ex. if you have Cinema4D R18.0, keep only "c4dOctane-r18.cdl64" and delete c4dOctane-r17.cdl64, c4dOctane-r16.cdl64, c4dOctane-r15.cdl64, etc..

Thanks for the quick update (RC1)
I really like the snap to grid feature. :)
Maybe there is also the possibility to add a "snap to straight wire" feature?

I still have a few optimization suggestions for nodes.
I often use the function to create a transform or projection node for multiple image textures at the same time using the right click method > Add to Selection > Transform.

Is it possible to do this for all selected Image Textures and using the buttons with shift+click to make it even faster. (screenshot nodes01.png)

It would be great if all nodes that have the possibility to add a transform or projection node get a quick button. (screenshot nodes02.png)

Love the new snap feature! One thing I noticed is that the icons swap when active.

I have fully working setup to randomizing different objects from Scatter stack but it is totally unstable while removing nodes even if they are not connected to Scatter :

Generally Scatter tag nodes are very buggy, they stop updating correctly after some changes.

EDIT : this version has problems with updating materials and object changes like scale too.

EDIT 2 : Scatter tag nodes works fine and stable using C4D nodes like Layer, Fusion etc but there is still crash while removing them. There is need to rebuild whole network from scratch or by copy-paste :

It would be very great that Scatter object tag nodes works fine with possibility to delete them because they greatly improve scatter possibilities not only for distribute objects stack by noise but also individual object in scatter stack would have its own random scale, position and rotation parameters driven by main distribution noise. This is not possible in any other instancer in C4D like Cloner, Surface Spread or Forester.

It's strange if you can use Octane shaders in Scatter's inputs. These are GPU based shaders and should not work with Scatter, because shader sampling done with CPU and only can work with CPU shaders. C4D's textures are CPU based, Octane's are not.

Also this is not specific to this version. It's like that since beginning.

I know, this is why I tried C4D CPU based ones and they works perfectly and stable. The only problem is that Octane crash while removing any of these nodes ( even disconnected from Scatter ). Using nodes with Scatter makes it very powerful and totally unlimited in the terms of complex scattering. If you can try to resolve these crashes during deleting nodes would be great !

All nodes created from here works perfectly connected to Scatter :
