Ok, I found whats causing this bug with hair constant updating.

Steps to reproduce:
- Make a cloner add lots of splines / add oct object tag / render as hair
- Once u start LV, try to pan or zoom it will freeze and on the bottom left corner c4d will show all the hair loading constantly.
a) Disable Geo updates from LV, it doesnt freeze anymore.
b) Disable Geo updates from LV / change something in the material/ enable Geo updates and doesnt freeze anymore unless I restart LV.

- Additionally mgcolor shader does not work, can we fix that please?

As im working a lot with cloners/splines the above issues dont let me work proper with my setups. Can you do a quick fix please? Cause besides that everything is so stable and i wanna keep using this version.

I have attached a scene I am having issues with.

I have a mix texture being driven by a vertex map on an object with an pose morph TAG - this works. When I add a pose morph DEFORMER the vertex map stops working with the texture and becomes unresponsive. The attached scene works with 2020.2.3-R3 but not with 2020.2.3-R6.

Using C4D S24.

300 frame motion tracked drone shot with TIFF sequence (7GB) in background object with octaneobject tag and some simple meshes.
It renders, but Octane crashes when I scrub the timeline, and it always stay on the first frame.
I tried using the image sequence in an octane environment object which scrubs and renders as expected, but it projects wrongly.

3090 and 256GB ram, everything cached cached to memory / separate dedicated SSD cache drive.

Rename the vertex tag as a work-around. Thanks for reporting

Why do you add object tag? It's not doing anything with background object.
Additionally, I'm trying to make some crashes with background object. Cannot do that, please send a sample scene. Small differences in parameters or setups can do changes

Thanks for reporting! Everything is not possible or easy to fix as you imagined. C4D's system is making some internal updates and these are making impossible or very hard to avoid the updating our export structures. Sometimes there's not a safe way to know that geometry data is not changing.
Also I don't think this problem is just up-to this version. You can stay with that

AND after some testing a WORK-AROUND for you
if you create hair object with cloner you'll have many hair nodes. This makes everything is very slow. But with Connect you'll have ONE HAIR node and then it will be much faster.

For mograph support that's not possible soon, why don't you use just meshes not hair?

Is this version working with r23 because I can't get it to run properly on any of our systems?

Edit. Turns out it was the RAR opener app with Win 10 causing problems. WinRAR seems to unpack things properly. Why is the C4D Win plugin not in a zip folder instead of RAR as zip is native to Win 10??

- So not sure if this is mentioned before, but tokens do not work unless in a folder.
Eg.if i set to render "$prj" which should write a project file next to my c4d file, doesnt work. If u set it to eg."/render/$prj" its working out fine.
I am using c4d R23.

- Also ACES cannot output an 8bit baked file from PV, which im not sure if its important, but it might helpful for some people.

It should work if you mean saving PNG with 8-bit buffer and OCIO-sRGB/etc... why think like that?

Hello Aoktar!

-Is there any news on C4D Scene nodes? It's been a while since R23 release and octane is still don't understand procedural geometry.

-Also, is there any possibility to get some post effects(curves, etc.) into camera or maybe Live Viewer? Because as Octane is good out of the box even Redshift now can achieve that with just a fex tweaks in Post Effects. Would be awesome!
