I have earlier felt this issue and, again it's coming after we proceed to a newer update of cinema4d's plugin / standalone. The gamma/exposure/light or something just differs from the previous version and changes the image very drastically. I don't know why do I always face this issue. It's a big issue as If I update to a newer version and client demands a change in the project, I'd be in a big mess.

I don't think that's exposure or so for imagers. Looks like a light thing. Plugin makes some parameter convertion between versions. I can't do anythings about Standalone or Core side.
Be sure that you "surface brightness" is disabled on lighttags. Plugin does it automatically..
