Great release Ahmet. I can confirm OSL is smoother in this one, well done!



Im gonna keep nagging about Life span attribute in the xparticles instance ID and changing the color for sub blend materials node. please :)

Thanks Ahmet!! Awesome release..I also had that picture viewer freeze whet hit render. Even after your fixes.. I installed latest drivers(398.11) and it works!!!

nope. Dont fix this problem.

Hi,

Just thought I would post a scene providing trouble in both V4 XB3-R1 and V4 XB2.1-test2 but renders fine in 3.08

I have a 60 second loop scene which is actually a part of a much larger and more complex animation, it's a tree from forester with a c4d noise shader (for looping purposes) driving a mix material to colour the leaves. The scene will always crash at frame 19, 23 or 24, sometimes providing an out of memory message, sometimes providing the .dll has crashed message and sometimes turning the entire display off.

The system is 2x1080ti's running 398.11 drivers, motherboard bios is updated and card functionality is fine.

I have caught the octane log twice:
Started logging on 20.06.18 16:51:16

OctaneRender Studio 4.00 XB3 (4000008)

CUDA error 700 on device 0: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to copy memory from device.
device 0: failed to get ai light update
device 0: path tracing kernel failed
CUDA error 700 on device 1: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to create link
device 1: failed to create OSL compile context:

device 1: failed to compile module 1
CUDA error 700 on device 1: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to clear linear device memory
CUDA error 700 on device 1: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to launch kernel(kernel23)
device 1: path tracing kernel failed

Started logging on 20.06.18 21:04:22

OctaneRender Studio 4.00 XB2.1 (4000007)

CUDA error 2 on device 1: out of memory
CUDA error 2 on device 0: out of memory
-> failed to allocate device memory
-> failed to allocate device memory
device 1: invalid memory pointers passed
device 0: invalid memory pointers passed


Findings
- It will render successfully with no materials.
- It will render successfully with both emission nodes unplugged.
- It will render successfully with the material applied to another object that is not the tree.
- Out of core does not affect the crash.

Seems to not be an issue with the material or the geometry but rather a memory issue of the combination of both. any help would be much appreciated.

Aside from this the AI denoiser is fantastic and overall scenes are much faster for me in V4.

Its crashing -always- when i put 3 or 4 forester trees and hit render, not matter if its in Dl or Pv.
Tree Materials are converted to Octane materials.

Congrats on the new built aoktar.

But I'm having a weird kind of issue with the Denoiser. As soon as the samples finish and going to Denoising, my system restarts. I tried every possible way but nothing is working with the Denoiser.

Once it worked when I turned the power of the GPU from 100 to 70% , but later having the same issue.
I had Zotac 1080 Ti AMP Extreme before and I thought that could be a faulty unit. So, bought an EVGA 1080ti FTW3 but having the same issue. I have MSI Z97 Gaming 3 motherboard and 900 PSU.

Please help me.

Hi Aoktar,

this version runs pretty stable on OSX, really nice. Thank you for all the improvements!

Only while rendering in the viewport, I cannot set keyframes, all changes snap immediately back. The same in 3.08.1-R2
