Hi !
I was using Light mixer and I wonder if we can have a more compact UI to see the controls more easelly. ;-)
Thanks !

Why do octane's procedural scratches look so repetitive and uniform. Can this be fixed and look more like real scratches?

Hi PromotsAdmin,
Certainly, the cutoff doesn't seem to work, and I've already reported the issue to the developers. However, the other parameters appear to be working correctly. In any case, is there a specific reason for not using the Octane universal camera?
Regards
Paride

Hi Paride
octan universal camera has the same problem with spread end and spread start limited to extremely low values (see my previous recording with sound till the end its all there)
thanks

Hi PromotsAdmin,
This is strange; I can't replicate your issue in this case. Nevertheless, I have sent the issue to the developers.

Hi PromotsAdmin,
Thank you for reporting this issue, and the video.
There is a bug for the limits of the spread values, it should be 10 for Spread start, and 2000 for Spread end..
(the editable values are internally multiplied by 1000 to make it easier to edit with 3dsMax, as those are small values in the Octane engine)
The work-around is to enable Preferences / User interface / 'Expand Object Dialogs width'. This mode handle the limits correctly..

For the cutoff, the update to the Octane viewport is incorrectly handled, so the work around is to rebuild the scene..
Sorry about that.

Those issues will be fixed in the next release.
Thanks

Hi merid888,
Could you Archive your scene and send me the zip in a PM ?
I can have a closer look.
The 'Empty file name' message could mean that some asset files couldn't be found ..
Thanks

neonZorglub thanks for your reply
the workaround for the spread issue works great, thanks for that.
what about the issue that all renders sent to deadline fails to render (deadline used as a batch render manager on a single local workstation. not network rendering)
is that a known issue or is it just me?
Thanks.

Hi coilbook,
Did you try using the procedural scratches with the chaos texture node?

Hi PromotsAdmin,
-Could you check and confirm that rendering your same scene with 14.03 was working fine ?
-One change in 14.04 that could influence this is the Deferred Load, that has been explicitly disabled.
You can try to force it Enabled, in Octane Preferences / Trouble Shooting / Plugin Deferred Load

Is there any error message / log that could help understanding the issue ?
You could also contact Deadline's customer support, they might be able to help locating the issue.
(We had other issues with Deadline previously for another plugin, and they recommender to contact their support team..)

I'm not familiar with Deadline, and can't test it currently..
As far as I understand, it has it's own plugin for max, as well as a separate application, is that correct ?
One issue could be the order in witch the max plugins are loaded (Octane plugin vs Deadline plugin).
If the Deferred option do not help, and if both plugins are in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max XXXX\Plugins\ , you could try to rename Octane3dsmax.dlr as ___Octane3dsmax.dlr or zzz_Octane3dsmax.dlr ... I'm not sure that plugins are loaded from alphabetic order, but it's worth a try..

Thanks
