@darkline,
why are you posting 3.08 5.02 RC2 issue in 3.08 stable?
That issue was fixed (black render region)
install 3.08 stable please.

Paride, you are not following the thread here. I am posting in this version because its THIS version causing the instability above in my posts (well either this version or the gpu drivers, or the win security update). Tried your uninstall method for GPU drivers but it didnt help. Once I move to latest versions my computer becomes unstable for good. So....Ive had to restore my computer from a previous backup where it works again, but of course I'm on an older version of octane which doesnt support 3.1 pheonix.. I have a deadline I need to to work to so I want to know which version of octane which is stable also supports pheonix 3.1.

Coilbook I'll try what you suggested, thanks.

Hi Paride

It's not that phoenix doesnt work with latest octane, it's that whole system becomes unstable after GPU/Octane upgrade. Ive tried 3 times and each time I have to restore. Images of what goes wrong when I upgrade I have already posted earlier in this thread. I often get a BSOD too while trying to render. You suggested uninstalling Nvidia drivers but that doesnt seem to work, neither does using the clean up driver tool. System is still unstable and I have to recover entire system drive from a backup.

I'll stick on my old version for now and come back on a later update. I'm using the export feature of phoenix and importing to an octane volume in my old version and it's working for the moment.

Hi darkline,
this your issue is very strange, I'm testing everything on hardware similar to yours: Maxwell GPUs Asus mobo 32 GB and windows 7 Nvidia 388.13.
Never had issue and/or BSOD, so I do not think it depends on Octane.
How many PCI lanes available for your GPUs?

Hi Paride

All my lanes are taken up (2 cards = 4 slots) and I have a raid controller and a capture card too. When I restore to previous backup everything is fine. Been using an old version for last 4 days and not a single issue with octane or GPU's.

I have a feeling it's either the windows security update or more likely the Nvidia drivers. I'll wait for v 4 before I try and upgrade again as everything seems to be working and I can import VDB into octane volume.

Hi darkline,
to understand your issue, you should have to copy the file "octane_log_flags.txt" (attacched) in Octane Standalone main root directory
remember to enable the permissions to write Octane folder.
e.g. OctaneSA select folder> Rightmouseclick> properties> security> ...
Then, restart and generated the issue (using Octane SA).
after error issue, create "Octane_log.txt" to send me: "windows > create log window", and save it.
Use attached files please, I made some mod inside them.
Regard
Paride
