Try reinstalling Octane after you updated C4D to 2023.1.3

That seemed to work for me (for now)

Big thanks SioPio for the solution!
I have skipped to update C4D to 2023.1.2, and updated directly to C4D 2023.1.3, so probably this is why I was not able to reproduce the issue here

@RegSquires:
can you confirm that updating C4D to 2023.1.3 solves the issue to you too?

ciao,
Beppe

I have reinstalled Octane countless times and am running 2023.1.3. It is still not working. I tried it again on a scene that wasn't the one that was crashing. But even a new scene from scratch still crashed. Not the Live Viewer bug, but I switched Denoiser on and then it hung.

So I am really over Octane. I spent the afternoon crash free with Redshift and it just worked. I just don't know what more I can do to fix this issue

@bepeg4d I installed and restarted my MacBook. I started using Cinema and all was fine and then it crashed. I have included the bugreports folder which also includes recent crashes. This is not my imagination and not a bad install. I hope you can shed some light on this

all the best

Hello, I do not know where to write, so I am writing here. Is there any reason why it is so cheap from Annual Package Monthly Package?

Thanks Richard for sharing the logs.
The crash seems not Octane related, but macOS related:

Did you have other applications running?

The only thing I can see is that you are still in Monterey, while I'm working in Ventura

ciao,
Beppe

P.S. I'm writing you via Private Message with some details.

So this afternoon, I started using Octane and I couldn't believe I didn't get a crash. I thought the gremlins had gone and I was very happy. Unfortunately after dinner I went back in and C4D crashed. Aaaaargh. Very frustrating

I believe Beppe is on it although he is super busy one everything else. I don't think I am alone in my frustrations

regards

Welcome to the club, man!
Although Octane is more stable during editing textures and nodes, it tends still to crash on every turn. Edit object scale - crash. Changing lights rotation - crash. Turning on/off layers - crash … and so on and on on. Even importing rigged character made my C4D r2023 crash. Previously most frustrating thing was texturing. When I got through it, the rest was more or less stable. During past three weeks with one of my projects, I have spent at least one day on restarting C4D and learned that you have to save your project after every little edit.

Hi,

You are not alone with this problem.
I created the simplest scene with a sphere and one light source. When you close Live Viewer, c4d just stops responding and you have to reboot.
In the window - Octane Settings, changing the compatibility settings also does not give any result.
