Walk through render

We've been rendering off a few walk through directly from Revit

So much easier than Vray. LC BS and flickering.

One thing would be really useful is to render a set number of frames.

This so we can have different render target settings as the Walkthrough goes through the building.

Say 1-1000 at one setting for outside then 1001-3000 at another setting for internal.

At the moment its all or nothing. Even with 12x titans X running its still a 9 hour job.

Although that probably to do with my lazy optimisation as anything! but its a big model with a load of glass.

Help etc appreciated if there is a work around.

cheers,

Hi, there are a few factors at play here.

12 x Titans should render 3000 frames incredibly fast. If you need to speed up your rendering, check out the Noise-Free Renders link in my signature.

I'm not absolutely sure I understand your workflow, but some points....

1) You could break your walk-thru into 2, then render each separately.

2) You can set the max Walkthrough frame that plugin will animate to by clicking the Walkthough Frame button of the Walkthrough element.

3) I could potentially make an option to start the walkthrough animation at the current frame, rather than frame 1

4) Attaching plugin info (start/end frame or rendertarget settings) to the Revit Walkthrough element would not be straightforward, so I would prefer to avoid that option if possible (but it's doable if the requirement is important enough)

5) You can export the entire Walkthrough to OCS/ORBX (use OCS) and open in Octane Standalone and render a sub-section of the sequence there.

6) I could potentially add a Start Frame and End Frame to the plugin Animation tab, however these number would be global to the scene, and not specific to each Revit Walkthrough element.

Hope that helps.

Paul,

Thanks for the feed back.

I've found this very useful for optimisation, but need to get nailed a bit more.

http://inlifethrill.com/trainings/rende ... cinema-4d/

It is incredibly fast. Its just that i'm like a kid trying to drive a formula 1 car. All accelerator and no finesse!

Because of the way Revit makes walk throughs, if you delete some key frame to split in half it adjusts the path, sometime times just slightly, but enough to cause a jump in animation.

Start from current and then render x number of frames, then stop would be great or from key frame to key frame, Again vray in max you can specify number of or nth frames.

I'm trying to avoid exporting to standalone. One of the benefit of the plug in is that we don't have to export to another platform. Makes it super easy for anyone to create animation or high res imagery.

That and the fact that standalone will scare the bejesus out of most architects!

Cheers,

OK, I will add this in the next release.
