OctaneRender window out-of-screen

Potential place for later improvement:

I work on a laptop about 50% of the time, and occasionally (for the sake of not interrupting my workflow) I will plug my laptop into a second/third monitor and finish some stuff scene setups/documenting on the laptop.

Problem with this (for me) is I've left my OctaneRender Setup Window & Viewport on my extended desktop, and its not accessible or selectable while the second monitor is not connected:
I even plugged my laptop into a second monitor (not my home monitor) and arranged the screen extension the same direction as I use at home (external monitor to the LHS of laptop) and its not there!

I suspect once I get back to my usual second-monitor that it will be right where I left it(windows remembers window placements (wish it didnt): but is there anything someone can suggest to overcome this?

very minor thing, but thought I'd bring it up anyway,

Thanks for the amazing product - and the update to artificial lights!(Revit plugin update)

Hi

Yes - I've noticed this too. The plugin will pull the viewport back from left of the left edge, or from above the top of the screen - however it's tricky know if it's out of range of the right of the screen (if you are using more then one screen). The screen position is stored in the config.xml file, so you can always edit that to get the form back on the screen. I will address this issue in a further version.

No big deal: once I got home to my usual monitor it was right where I left it :D

Props for all the projects you're working across!

Hi Face_Off,

Having some problems with missing windows again, and thought I'd set my progressive saves(set to maxsamples now) to my shared drive too (I workshare, work in the model on the laptop while the 'server' renders :D

Anyway, whats the location of the config.xml file, where should it be? I've checked... OK... Just found it: C:\Users\<yourlogin>\AppData\Local\OctaneRander for Revit\config.xml
it was set to -1777 or something! :(

I might make a .bat file that replaces the file with a known good (ie x:0, Y:0), then I can just run the .bat & get myself going in a millisecond :D

ALSO... I may make a new thread to tell others: but I found I can use VNC to connect to the server (with log user off in VNC set to on) and the memory load drops by 100mb (only have the GTX590 in the desktop at the moment).

Great if you have access to a spare revit seat & want to farm out worksharing rendering to it while continuing to work on your main laptop/PC...

Never manually edited a config.xml file: last time I did that kind of this they were called *.cfg...

It might be common now, are they?

I will post an update which resets Viewports with a negative X or Y coord to the top left of the screen in the next 24hrs.
