the Blue Beast

Here's a scene I'm working on ... it won't be 'finished' until we get the hair/fur rendering and some SSS. Don't know when volume rendering will be possible, so at some point I'll comp in some fire/smoke from Blender.

I intentionally made the skin and cloth materials a bit too shiny, just to show the contours better within the diffuse-only lighting.

Thanks psor!

n1k: actually, it's both. :)
... clubbing and burning each come in handy as a tool and a weapon, so it's dual-use!

Yeah it's the same, minus the face-fuzz. ;)

Here's a link to a render from Blender (it's older, but it shows hairy and hairless together):

Thanks! I can't wait for texture-based control of hair particles get reimplemented in Blender 2.5 ... esp. since radiance mentioned Octane supporting hair/fur at some point (soon?). 8-)

Seriously!? From a movie or something? That's cool - guess I'm on the right track with this base mesh. :)
