hello,
i`ve just noticed the first glitch while playing with the plugin.
Image
it is a simple scene, the material used for the window glass is a portal

Hi tubel

Is that happening because the floor is not touching the wall?

Would it be possible to email me the scene (just the floor and wall is fine) to [email protected] and I'll have a closer look.

i`ve emailed the test scene to you. the wall starts from 0 to a height of 3.00m and the slab from 0 to -0.1 (maybe this is the glitch)

Thanks for sending the file. I think in the Octane scene the floor might not be meeting the wall surface which is creating an optical illusion. It's late here - so I'll need to investigate in the morning.

another issue i`ve been seeing is on the conversion of the standard materials. i need to manualy set a scale of ~1.60 to match the 3d viewport.
there are 3 cubes 90x90x90cm each with textures dimensions as follows 30x30cm 15x15cm and 15x15cm
and i see it depends on the scale of the texture in pixels and not the dimensions given in archicad.

Is that happening because the floor is not touching the wall?

This is happening because the rayepsilon is too high - using anything below 0.007 fixes the issue. I've found that because with ArchiCAD you can do close-ups (like your example), and distance shots encompassing a lot of area), the rayepsilon needs small adjustments sometimes. I'm looking at if this can be automated somehow.

Also, for glass materials, you can also use the default specular with an opacity around 0.3 rather than a portal. And when the build against Octane 1.11 is available (in the next week?), it has a checkbox for the fake shadows on specular materials, which would also work very well in this case.

You are right - the texture scaling is too low in this case. This should not be happening, so I will investigate.

After some further analysis on this, I can see the Octane texture scale is not correctly transferring from the ArchiCAD material dimensions, which i will fix. In the meantime, if you need to adjust the Octane texture scale, convert the "scale" from "float" to "float2", and set the X and Y sliders accordingly. Then "Additional Options" -> "Save as Default". Then when that material is next used, it will pick up the correct scale.

I have posted a new release to address the texture scaling issue - pls see http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=29263&p=128106.
