This render did cook for 8 hours before it reached 32000 samples and it still contains a lot of noise. (1440*900 GTX 285)

Wow... yeah I agree with you its a little bit long
Its the kind of scene that should be faster with MLT

The reason for the orange look was that I was going for a warm morning light setup, it might be to orange but I kinda like the look of it:-)

Ok, but I didn't noticed it. Maybe sunlight passing trought shades and making some more hard shadows should do it.
But without the physical sun its kinda hard to get this effect right.

I will have to do another render of the bathroom scene, it really don`t look as good as I would like

But as a test to see if a smaller and simpler scene would make any different when it comes to speed and noise, I reused some of the bedroom
furniture in a new scene. This time it`s only lit by a solid color as someone mentioned that that would make it clean faster.....well, I didn`t see that
much different, `there is still lots of noise and that is after 3 hours cooking at 1280*800.

As mentioned before I have no experience from any unbiased renders before so I don`t know what to expect when it comes to noise vs time.
If anybody with experience knows any trick to make the images crisp and clean I would really be happy to hear about them.

No matter what, the money for the beta is in the bank :)

Have a great weekend

What GPU do you have ?
How many MS/s do you get in that scene ?

Hey,

Once we have support for portals and MLT scenes like this will render much quicker :)

one thing, do you have glass in your windows ?
when having glass in windows, you're whole scene is basically lit by a caustic,
which makes things very inefficient due to lack of architectural glass, portals and MLT.

removing glass in windows will definately help a lot.

Thanks for answering radiance.

It it nice to hear that MLT and portals will make a different in rendering times, just as I hoped :D
There is no glass in the windows, but in the bathroom scene there is the glass doors witch might not be the best idea
after all.

@Sam
I have different machines that I do my tests with, they contains 9600 GT, 3700M and GTX 285,
all of the interior renders including one for the competition has been rendered with the 285 card.
The bedroom scene rendered at 1.49 mega samples, and I think the bathroom was about 1.25.

Very nice scene!
I'm not using octane yet, too old vga, so I have to buy a new one to use it, but I will soon.

Is there any setting for the bouncing values, or its just automatic?
I mean, how many gi bounces do you have in the scene?
