The location setting (year, month, day, time) is a feature left from when t_3 was still developing the plug-in.
Although it can produce some really nice results (in combination with the longitude / latitude sliders,) the Poser plug-ins solution is the more precise one, imho.
You can grab the "Sunlight" directly in the light controls and move it around freely and get a preview right away in the host application viewport.
I'm not aware that this is possible in the DAZ Studio version of the plug-in. (Please correct me if I'm wrong here).
t_3 probably knew back then, that it wasn't possible to bring the sunlight directly into the host application (DAZ Studio in this case) so he came up with the other solution instead.
