Preset materials for Octane/Poser

Is there any chance of having a preset of materials, like metals, wood, concrete, etc. that will be available in the materials window?
This would help speed things along a great deal.

Hi Lightray

You can do this easily already. Setup a metal material in the plugin Materials Tab, then rightclick the material and select "Export Material", name it "Metal Preset". Do the same for wood, concrete etc. Then when you next need to use one of these, rightclick the material and select "Import Material" and select the wood, metal, concrete, etc preset.

Excuse me you both for the intrusion to the post. I wanted to know a quick question about the materials. Is it possible to change more than one material at the same time in the same object from poser inside the plug-in? Example: a material from livedb. I tried holding on Ctrl, Alt and/or Shift and I didn't have luck

Multiple selection is not directly supported, but something I've looked into. At the moment, you can use the "Paste to all skin materials", and "Paste to all props named ???", which allow you to make a change once and then propagate that change to many materials quickly. I would love to add the facility to select say 3 materials, then change the bump from 0.1 to 0.2 on one of the materials and it changed the other 2 too - but there are some technical challenges in doing this. But it's definitely something that I'll keep on the plugin roadmap.

Oh yeah... sorry... and while ya at it... can you automatically update the V4 texture... or any texture really when you do a scene refresh to the new textures rather than having to go into Materials ans reload between changes of textures. I'll bugger off now...

I am with RGUS on this one, it would be great to change near everything from glossy to diffuse at one time. Is there a way to make diffuse the default for things pushed to octane that isnt spec?

I am against this - if at all, it should be optional.
I would not like to destroy my octane material setup because I changed a texture in the poser material room

Unless you mean something else...

I agree, it would have to be an option. It's fairly easy to right click the figure in the materials list and re-import it if you've changed the textures in Poser.
