Transparency Maps and No Hair

Hi Guys,
Sorry to bother you but for the life of me and lack of head hair I have to ask for help.
Transparency maps and Octane I'm sure hate each other.
Attached is a capture of the material with a trans maps to hide the black waist band on the jeans. As you can see the material behaves properly in the preview window but turns black in the Octane render window.
I've tried to follow node poking from similar posts in these forums even inverting the CUTOUT image because apparently Octane treats black as transparent... but oh no... Octane and I are not playing well together.
Can someone please, please help me understand what I'm doing wrong or at least scribble over the attached images and point me to the error of my ways so the black band is transparent in the Octane render.

Thanks heaps if you can help.

Hi RGUS,

That is odd. Opacity map should work like it is doing in the preview under NGE. Your material setup looks okay. Can you provide the scene file via PM ? Or provide the link for the Jeans product. I can then check if I have that product or a similar product to do some RnD on.

Regards,
Rajib

Thank you RGUS for providing the files via PM. I am putting the solution that I provided to you over PM here so that it helps others too.

As the jeans was GhostShell based, the displacement settings in the NGE needed a little bit of adjusting.

In Octane, in general whatever is the displacement Height, one should use a negative half as the Mid Level. For the Jeans the Height was 0.4 so I set the Mid Level to -0.2 (Previous value was 0). And the second thing that needs to be done is set the Level of Details to as close to the real texture dimension of the displacement texture. The Jeans Displacement texture dimension was 6144x6144 and the Level of Details was set to 1024x1024. So I selected 4096x4096 under the Level of Details. It also works with 8192x8192. Lower Level Of Details like 2048x2048 may still create the black artifact. So keep it the same as the actual dimension or if the dimension is not in the Level Of Details drop down, then the next closest either above or below dimension available in the drop down.

Once the above two adjustments were done, the black part got resolved.

This should work for any full body clothing / GhostShell that comes with a transparency / opacity map to hide certain parts and has a displacement texture.

Cheers,
Rajib
