i want to export an animated character.

i read that a character can be exported as an orbx and the animation is exported as alembic.
if i understood, i can then merge them in standalone and rexport?

can i please have more info how to do this?

System->Alembic Export->Start Export. This will give you an ABC file and ORBX file (which will also contain the ABC file). You can then load this ORBX file into Octane Standalone.

thanks but i have gotten that far. i have the abc baked.

i could not find how to pipe in abc in standalone and get it going, its not for lack of trying. thats the reason for me posting.
seems its best in that case to contact standalone support directly. i will do that.

what i am confused by is the your comment on a different thread i found while searching for the solution:
"System->Alembic Export will also save an OCS file which you should be able to load into Octane Standalone to render the animation.

Paul"

i am still very new to orbx and have no idea how ocs comes into play. figured this ocs needs to be added to the orbx somehow.
honestly, it´s pretty difficult to look stuff up on octane, especially standalone.

in any case, i will see what support says directly.
best,

best,
The animation should save to two files (a .ABC file, and a .ORBX file of the same name as the ABC file). You need to load the .ORBX into Octane Standalone.

Thanks
