workflow for using octane standalone with rhino?

Hello,

tried searching the forum, but "standalone" and "export" and "scene" apparently are too common of words...

Is there an easy way to switch back-and-forth between working on a scene in octane standalone, and using the plugin inside rhino? I find it much easier to find and tweak parameters in the octane interface.

I think you are looking for the rhino command:

"OctaneExportSceneToORBX"

you have to define a complete filepath to write the scene file. like C:\scene.orbx
[size=85]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ok, but say I then add and edit some materials and settings in octane standalone, and I add and edit some geometry in rhino. How do I then re-sync the new stuff from rhino to octane standalone?

You can also open the viewport then rightclick the settings tree to export to OCS or ORBX.

How do I then re-sync the new stuff from rhino to octane standalone?
You can't. You need to re-export from the Rhino plugin and reload the scene into Octane Standalone. You really need to edit materials in Rhino, not Octane Standalone. You can use a NodeGraph material type in the Rhino plugin which gives you the Octane Standalone nodegraph edit facility.

Ah, perfect, didn't know about the nodegraph material. Thanks!
