Hi Paul ..
Please ignore the query below. I found it.
When all else fails look in the manual
:D

Hi Paul
Sorry for being such a pest.
I don't seem to be able to access the live data base for materials.
Can't find any tab for that. If I use the Rhino render tab I get the option for Rhino Render materials only.
Thanks,
eric

Hi Paul ...
The current serious problem is that texture scale does not stick. Each time I open the Rhino drawing (and Octane) the scale of textures reverts to the default and every material has to be changed.. This takes time and is not acceptable for work flow.

And I am getting frequent Cuda failure messages. Sometimes they lock up the system and sometimes they don't ... next time that happens I will do screen shots.

cheers,
eric

No other user has reported this issue. Can you pls tell me the information requested at the top of this thread, and also provide screenshots showing the problem?

Again, I need the information requested at the top of this thread in order to help you.

Eric - those errors look like a hardware issue. I suggest trying to render with each card in isolation? That will tell you if it is one of the cards causing the issue.

Hi Paul ..
First, I think you are right about it being a graphics card problem. It appears that 6 GB cards are available at an affordable price. I am now using a 4 GB dedicated card for Octane. Any suggestions?

but ...

A continuing problem (regardless of which video card I use ... there are two in my system). Octane is not holding the scale settings in my materials. I have to set all of them at each work session. This must be a software problem.

Thanks for all your patient help.
cheers,
eric

Sorry - I'm not a hardware person. I suggest you ask in the General Discussion forum here.

You will need to give me more information on this. I'm not sure what mean by the "scale settings in my materials".

Hi Paul ...

Look at the grass as an example ... every time I open the Octane viewport the materials revert to their seemingly default texture scale settings ... I have to change the grass texture to the desired setting every time I open Rhino/Octane

Note also that the siding is vertical in come cases and horizontal in others. All the same layer. How do I change the surface normals to match?
