And I'm so excited to eventually get updated documentation for the LW plugin too! It's still for the 3.x branch of Octane. Way, way, way out of date. Some of the other plugins are just as bad, so it's not unique to LW, but d**n people... :) Stop making me translate that cinema thing's docs... to figure out the new features.... <grin>

Dear Andrew Bishop :)

I read that you are going to develop the new updates of the Octane Render plugin for Lightwave and that is excellent news!

I'm currently doing a project with Lightwave 2023 and Octane and I need so much patience with Octane causing Lightwave to crash several times per hour...

My scene is a relatively large project and I'm working with an RTX 3090 (24 GB RAM)

Where I have the most difficulty is with animated values on surfaces or in the Octane editor (pretty much anywhere I set an animated value)

These values are not updated in real time by Octane, so I have to open each one and play with the keyframe to get an update in the render view!!!

So this is to announce that it is very annoying and not very good for the workflow.

Please take a look at it in your future version of the plugin.

By the way, can you give us a time frame for the updated version?
Do you think we can get it free for owners?

Thanks for saving Lightwave (octane is a major element for the future of Lightwave)

Best wishes!!!

So we have almost completed the 2023 LightWave upgrade cycle and are already working on the next big update; LightWave2024 (which should be available this summer) - this will include Octane for Multi GPU (Studio Licence). We are also working on other updates for Octane to start bringing it back up to date, we will announce it on May 4th, along with a few early demo's etc. Thanks for remaining patient.

Regards stability of Octane, im also using an RTX 3090 and its been really stable for me and most of our team - are you on the 2023.01 release or the 2023.0 release - let me know. Might be worth sending us a scene with a description of the crashes and under what circumstances its happening. Contact me through the LightWave 3D site.

We are releaseing a 2023.02 very soon with loads of general bug fixes, loads of updates on the new Procedural Geometry Nodes. We will be releasing 2023.02 for Mac & PC at the same time.

Dear Andrew Bishop,

I am still working on the 2023.0 version of Lightwave and didn't know about an update 2023.01!!!
Where i can be better informed? Discord, Facebook or the Lightwave Digital website?

I did login to download the 2023.01 but i don't see it in my account :(

Actually i rarely go on Discord because i am more a Facebook user for getting news. I did look on the Lightwave Digital website and i don't see any announcement about the 2023.01 release...
Can you tell me where to look on the website for fresh news?

I will contact the team via the website to ask how i can get the 2023.01 release.
I am impatient to test my project and see if i get more stability.

About my project i still get crashes with octane but a bit less frequently since my project evolve. I did streamline and optimize and now it is faster and took less memory but crash many times a day.

Maybe it is my system.. i have change things in my antivirus Comodo and it seems more stable now.

I will try soon to contact you and send you my project for testing purpose with your team!

All the Best :)

Most of the time Lightwave crash while starting Octane Render for IPR or rendering.
The scene begin loading into the gpu's 1 RTX3090 on server and 3 RTX2080TI on 1 slave
Octane will crash even networked or not.

But when no crash happen everything go fine except updating some animated values with curves (nodal)

Turn off multithreaded scene extraction (in octane settings panel) and then try.
