Strange lines rendering under octane procedural volumetric

Hello juanjgon,

love octane though I'm using an older version of the plug. I was fixing up a planetary atmosphere using Octane 4 and Lightwave 2019 with some standard sphere meshes for the planet and cloud layers. . . and an octane procedural mesh for the atmosphere. The mesh is set at a resolution of 150 with the sphere mesh being a subpatched, triangulated poly sphere (the procedural is set to "mesh" rather than "sphere")

You can see the lines rendering under the planet which you have probably seen before but come as a bit of a surprise to me. The lines are associated with the procedural sphere mesh though there is no geometry to create the streaks. I fiddled with a bunch of settings including Ray epsilon but can't seem to fix them.

Any ideas Juanjgon.

Regards,

Pat Turner

I remember that a problem like that was fixed around Octane 2019.1. If you want to send use the scene, I could check if this problem is indeed fixed in the latest Octane 2020.2 build.

Thanks,
-Juanjo

Thanks Juanjo,

okay, I can't really use the 2020 build as far as I know as I've run into that Mac doesn't like nvidia card end of upgrade line.
I run a MacPro on Mac OS 10.13.6. Any upgrade and I can't run the nvidia card anymore.

I guess I'll have to do it another way.

Thanks Juanjo.

Best,

Pat
