Hi,

This is a beta release of the OctaneRender™ 2020.1 for LightWave™ plugin version 2020.1.0.3, available for LightWave 11.6, 2015.3, 2018.0 and 2019.0/2019.1 Windows x64 and OSX. This build has been compiled using the Octane 2020.1 RC1 core.

To use Octane 2020.1, you need to have a Studio or Enterprise subscription license. We recommend you to update your NVIDIA driver to at least 435.80 for Windows or 435.12 for Linux.

As with all experimental builds, we advise to not to use this release for production purposes. We can't guarantee that scenes saved with this version will be compatible in future releases, and we anticipate there being several maintenance releases.

New features
To learn more about the new features and improvements of OctaneRender 2020.1, please check out the 2020.1 XB1 release post, but this is a quick list of the main new features that have been added. The features not listed here, like the new universal camera node, will be available in the upcoming builds.

* PLUGIN FEATURES AND FIXES:

- Added support for Octane particles rendering from the object points or from the LW particle systems. New particle rendering options available in the Octane custom object plugin options panel.

* OCTANE 2020.1 RC1 FEATURES AND BUGS FIXED:
- Improved out-of-core and peer-to-peer (NVlink) so data that would always need to be on VRAM before can now be evicted. This means that some scenes that would run out of VRAM may work now.
- Fixed dirt texture does rendering black with RTX geometry.
- Fixed accurate rounded edges mode not being applied on RTX geometry.
- Fixed GPU illegal memory access when using emission and RTX with animated instances.
- Fixed a device error happening sometimes when using more than one RTX meshes.
- Fixed some cases causing the render to hang without producing any output.
- Fixed wrong license expiry time being displayed when activating subscription builds using a perpetual license.
- Fixed issue with auto bump map calculation causing the output to be black in some scenarios.
- Fixed issue with auto bump was not working as intended when the object was scaled or rotated.
- Fixed crash when switching denoiser on/off and device peering was enabled.

Render slave deamon still crashes instantly (as in previous 2020 version) :(

There are at least two issues that the core team is still investigating related to the slave rendering, for example, a crash while using the new dirt node with RTX GPUs ... not sure if this is your case.

No dirt node in the scene :(
I made a few tests :
- With standalone scene renders fine on master PC
- With standalone scene renders fine on slave PC
- With standalone on master PC, and network daemon on slave, slaves crashes instantly

EDIT: I'VE FOUND SOMETHING!
Load original scene, make a preset of the rendertarget nodes.
Clear scene.
Load items from scene in a NEW empty scene (check all to get camera's etc aswell)
Load earlier created preset for the rendertargetnode.
happy rendering.....
Any insight in this Juanjo?


For me the same problems are still there.
Scenes render fine with 2019, and fail terrible with 2020.
No improvement whatsoever. Rolling back to 2019 solves all issues.
Really hoping Otoy will be able to fix this. It's no fun.

Particles are great, very fast and simple. Very useful for a lot of things.
If they will can "fuse together" as metaballs you will make a new superfast Hyper Voxels! ;-)

I agree Gianlucas, I also missed this detail, I will try to play with the Round Edges node!
Not really what we want, but in very close particles it should have a good effect!

Great work. Loving the new features.

I'm guessing volume Vectron is still in the pipeline? If so, can I put in a vote to see it sooner rather than later? I've got an idea I'd love to try out with it.
