Colorspace workflow question

We are working with Red footage and our plates are Log exr, with a supplied .cube LUT that looks great when applied to our plates in nuke. What is the correct linear workflow from Octane that will allow us to bring in our Log exr back plates in Lightwave, set up our texture/lighting so our CG integrates correctly into the LUTTED plate (viewable in the IPR with the .cube), then render out un-lutted exr that we can work with in the comp, knowing that when we apply the lut back in nuke, our rendered elements will behave the same way as they did back in octane IPR? It is much more complex than simply converting the renders LIN-toLOG when we bring them into nuke, as all the colors explode.

Sorry for the convoluted question, but we would love any input from some color science gurus out there:)

This has been a few years, but what was the workflow you ended using here?
