Octane 3.05 MEGA BUG ???

Re: Network performance question

Juanjo, Same issue here, upgraded from 3.03 to 3.05 today, and now my Titan X wont go 100% or overclocking!!!! it stays under 1500 Mhz, and with 3.03 upt to 2 Ghz! That is a a nono. Some other guy reported his GPUS at 80%, i am experiencing the same.... just after upgrading. 3 different boxes, motherboards and OS. Have Titan X Pascal, 1080s, 1070s, and 780ti. Is this an issue about mixing Pascal with no Pascal? 3.03 did not have this issue.
( Despite Afterburner set to overclock!!!! )
Looks like a bug to me.
If i cant fix this, i will go back to 3.03.

Thank you,

Asher

Hi,

Let's see how the 3.06 build works. The new plugin build is almost ready, but I was waiting for a new Octane core API build because the Octane 3.06 TEST2 has some bugs not fixed yet, for example a crash in the new triplanar texture feature.

Thanks,

The bug is not constant, i was able to see the GPUs at top speed again.... It looks to me that with GPUS sometimes they get "stuck"( in a performance mode ) and a computer needs a reboot. I have seen core clocks also being stuck in other past older videocards... maybe is a Cuda thing and not an Octane issue. However, Pascal optimization needs attention!

Check different Kernels, I find PMC using less GPU power (even low as 60%) than Direct and Path Tracing.

Still the same experience with me using the Pascal cards. Direct lighting kernals get 90-95% steady usage. PMC and path tracing kernals get 60-80% usage, and the usage meters ping back and forth between 0 and 60-80% at a steady one second interval on slave GPU's. Local GPU stay steady (doesn't ping back and forth), but still tops out around 80% performance using PMC and PT kernals.

I have Pascal GPUs (2*1080) and not seeing that behavior so it might be specific to your setup or scene.

Try this:

1. Increase Parallel samples for PT Kernel (be aware it'll use more RAM)
2. Turn on "Use for Tonemap" just for 1 GPU and not all as by defualt

Then check.
