This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender 2023 for Modo - TEST and STABLE release.

SOLUTIONS TO COMMON ISSUES

1) Make sure your NVIDIA drivers are up to date.

2) Refer to the Troubleshooting section of the manual at https://docs.otoy.com/ModoH/ModoPluginManual.htm#Modo/Troubleshooting.htm

3) Cuda error 999 - failed to load shader code: Multiple definition of 'cpSptStatistics' in 'cuda_teturemode' means that your plugin version is too old for the Nvidia drivers that are installed, so update to the latest version of the plugin.

4) The Octane Greyscale Vertex Attribute is not working for a mesh : make sure Kernel->Render Cache is disabled, and Live Geometry is enabled and Load Cage is disabled for the mesh.

5) How do I copy Meshes between Modo scenes? Please see https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=75794&p=389534

Modo Version
Windows : Modo15, 16 and 17 on Window 7, 8 or 10 64bit
OSX : Modo17 on macOS Somona, and only on Apple Silicon
Linux : Modo15, 16 and 17 on 64bit Linux

To use this version, you need a GPU of compute model 3.0 or higher. Support for Fermi GPUs (like GTX 4xx and 5xx) has been dropped. Also make sure you use a driver of version 452 or higher on Windows, 450 or higher on Linux.

Network Rendering
For Network Rendering, you must use the Octane slave release from the Octane Standalone installer which matches the exact Octane version of the plugin you are using.

Support Issues
If you have a support issue, pls provide the following information:
- Modo version
- OctaneRender for Modo version (ie. 2.0.10.16)
- Operating System (ie. Win XP, Vista, 7, 8)
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version

Prior to reporting issues, please try Modo->System->Open User Folder->Shutdown Modo->then delete the MODO[version].CFG file and restart Modo.

The most important part of resolving a problem is me being able to re-produce that problem. So pls provide as much detail as possible in order for me to do this, and if the problem is specific to the scene, send me the scene.

2023.1.2.199 (8-Mar-2024)

2023.1.2.198 (4-Mar-2024)
- Export Frame and Export Animation now renames the rendertarget to the ORBX name
- The Save Image, Export Frame and Export Animation commands now default the save filename to the Modo scene filename
- Fixed issue where the Output AOV->Image File was not working
- Fixed issue where scrubbing the timeline when there was a light with Toon Light enabled resulted in an Octane Log error

2023.1.2.197 (4-Mar-2024)
- Fixed issue where the checkboard would not render on AOV Output passes with alpha enabled
- Ray Epsilon now has a minimum of 0.0000001
- All Deprecated nodes (from previous versions of Octane) are now in the Schematic->Add->Channel Modifier->Octane->Deprecated group
- Added an Object (ie. Mesh) Pick button. Shift-Right-Click to pop up a menu to select meshes behind the top mesh. Only works for "Live Geometry Update" enabled.
- You can now save to "Multi-layer Discrete Files" with PNG, JPEG and TIFF
- You can now select multiple crytomatte passes with the Cryptomatte Pick function of the Mask With Cryptomatte node
- You can deselect crytomatte passes with the Cryptomatte Pick function of the Mask With Cryptomatte node by using the right mouse button click
- The Cryptomatte passes in the Render Passes panel->Cryptomatte tab have been renamed and reordered to match the Type combobox of the Mask With Cryptomatte node
- Fixed bug where if Object Motion Blur was on, and the first mesh instance for a mesh was not visible, the remaining mesh instances would not show
- Fixed issue where Modo would crash if you disable a Mesh Instances source mesh visibility when using the Render Cache
- From a past release : Removed the octane.createUdim command, as UDIM tile support was added in 2022.1.1.191
- Fixed a number of issues associated with UDIM support : '_' can now be used between the filename and the UDIM number, a UDIM Folder can be dragged onto the Schematic and plugged into the Filename pin of an Image node, UDIM files in the wrong order and gaps in UDIM files are now rendered correctly
- Added the "Use In Post Volume" property from Octane 2023 to the "Daylight Environment" item
- Updated the Cryptomatte tooltips to indicate which passes generate stable matte IDs. NOTE: The "Object pin name" pass is not of use within the Modo plugin
- Fixed issue where Custom AOV's for a Proxy Mesh were not working
- Fixed issue where the play button was not available after exporting an animation
- Pressing the Cancel button on the progress monitor whilst exporting the scene to ORBX now correctly aborts the export process

2023.1.2.196 (5-Jan-2024)
- Compiled with Octane 2023.1.2
- Fixed UV mapping issue with Area Lights (introduced in 2023.1.1.195)
- Fixed issue where Clips->Image Sequence->End Behavior=Repeat was not working
- Fixed issue where Point Light visibility was not mapping correctly with the Modo source point light (introduced in 2023.1.1.195)
- Lights now have "Curvature Visibility" OFF to stop light artifacts rendering
- Added the new AOV Output layer nodes Save Checkpoint, Load Checkpoint, Discard Checkpoint, Sharpen and Light Mixer introduced in Octane 2023.1.2

2023.1.1.195 (8-Dec-2023)
- Compiled with Octane 2023.1.1
- Added the Post Volume Effects node from Octane 2023.1. To use this, drag the Post Volume Effects property from the Octane Camera->Post Process tab onto the Schematic and attach a Render Setting->Post Volume Effects node to it
- Fixed issue where layered EXR files could not be saved
- Added Medium Light Pass Mask properties from Octane 2023.1 to the Environments
- Added additional List Pass Masks (9 to 20) on the kernel and object layer (mesh) nodes. This required changing the Light Pass Mask channel names for the Mesh and Render item, so scenes saved with previous versions of the plugin will load with the default Light Pass Mesh channel values
- Resolved an issue where Modo texture locator repeats were not working in the Octane Override
- The "Mask With Cryptomatte" node "Mattes" property is now multi-line to match Octane Standalone
- The Kernel->Animation "Reload Materials Each Frame" property can now be animated
- Fixed issue where proxy ORBX files where not rendering in animations
- Fixed issue where saving multi-layer EXR files was ignoring the Compression property

2023.1.0.193 (18-Oct-2023)
- NOTE: Do not save .lxo's with this version of the plugin that you then need to load with the Octane 2022.1 version of the plugin
- The plugin does not use the Octane "Compatibility" modes, so you may find that scenes render slightly differently to Octane 2022.1, as many of the Octane nodes have changed pin values, ranges, defaults, etc.
- Compiled with Octane 2023.1 Beta 4
- The "Create Nodes"->"New Composite" menu button is now "New Output AOV"
- Composite Texture and Composite AOV (now deprecated) -> the 10th Value/Position has had it's internal name changed, so old scenes with a connection to the old 10th Value/Position will loose this connection
- Old nodes from the compositor system from Octane 2022.1 are still available via the Schematic->Add->Channel Modifier->Octane menu (and have a "(deprecated)" in indicator in their name)
- Added all Texture Layer nodes from Octane 2023.1
- Added the Interpolation Color Space pin to the Volume Gradient, Gradient Map and Toon Ramp nodes
- Added Dispersion Mode to the Standard Surface Material, Specular Material, Specular Material Layer, Universal Material. This defaults to "Abbe number". Change this to "Cauchy formula" in order to render as per Octane 2022.1
- Added Cast Photons to the Environment
- Added the Enabled pin for each material input of the Composite Material
- Added save formats TIF and JPEG
- Added Kernel->Animation->Save Skip Frames, which is the number of frames to NOT save at the start and end of the animation (where motion blur may not be working). The skipped frames will still render, but they will not save. This will help when a section of an animation needs to be re-rendered.
- Not implemented yet
    * Switch nodes
    * Analytic and Directional lights
    * Post proccessing volume effects
    * Offset the time in an animation from an ORBX proxy
    * Output AOV->Apply Custom Curve
    * Directional Light

Following is a TEST release for the next build. I will post it to the top of this thread once I am confident all the issues are in fact fixed.

2023.1.0.194
- Fixed issues associated with Bump Strength introduced in 2023.1.0.193
- Changed the spelling of "Greyscale" to "Grayscale" to match Octane Standalone
- Octane Material nodes now store the Bump Amount as a Modo "Distance", so bump amounts < 0.00001 can be used

This is the same version as OctaneRender_for_Modo15-16_2023_1_0_194_STUDIO_test2.exe, however I have added Linux, macOS installers, and the Windows Modo14 installer. Once Modo17 is released, Modo14 will no longer be supported.
