Hi,
I have not used Octane for a while but I'm getting just a grey screen. Is Maxwell support discontinued? The description says Ampere cards are supported and then it skips back over Maxwell to Kepler on Mac.

Also tried 2020.2 XB 4 / 2020.2 XB 5 / 2021.1 XB 3 / 2020.2.4 - all have the same issue.
System:
GTX Titan X (Maxwell)
Win 8.1 (latest build)
Nvidia driver 471.11
cudnn_8_0_4 folder seems to be installed in the correct place.

Thanks

Im just looking at this paper on the STD BRDF
https://mribar03.bitbucket.io/projects/ ... bution.pdf

I'm not sure if the octane version is based on this. It states that using a gamma of 2 is equivalent to GGX, while 50 is approx to Beckmann.

How does their gamma parameter convert to Octane's spread value?

Octane 0.0 spread would have a similar tail to Beckmann (hard tail), while around 0.9 spread (soft tail) close to GGX as it's more spread.

Thanks wallace

I had already eyeballed GGX to a spread of 0.9, but I was just curious

Maxwell is still supported. Can you try the Standalone and check if rendering the material ball works?

Thanks. Found the issue. Under Preferences / Devices - 'Image' was unchecked. I have no idea why that option is there but seemingly the installation default on all these versions I tried was to have it unchecked (?) Of course I might be missing something. Checking 'Image' brought the render window back.

BUG: Batch render job node doesnt save denoised beauty pass

I'm just trying the "batch render job" node and can't seem to save out a denoised beauty pass (its saving the noisy beauty pass instead).

The batch rendering script works though.

BUG: Cuda crash on this orbx

I was working on something and started getting CUDA 700 crashes after making some changes.

I have reduced the scene and attached an orbx. Trying to render it results in:

Code: Select all
OctaneRender Enterprise 2021.1 XB 3 (11000009)

CUDA error 700 on device 1: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to wait for event
device 1: path tracing kernel failed

Thanks for the report, a fix should be in place for next update.
