Now that Octane 4 is out (in beta), I'd like to ask about the rounded edge improvements that were discussed in previous presentations by Jules.

Is this still happening? I really love Octane but the rounded edge feature is a real let down. We really need something better.

Improved rounded edges have been announced in our roadmap for v3.10.
What we plan is to keep the current implementation, which just works in some cases and which is extremely fast compared to most renderers and add a new "accurate" option that will hopefully solve the current issues and add extra functionality.

Coilbook a couple of us have discussed this a few posts up. I get faster denoise if I just use my 1080 Ti. If I enable denoising on both cards (my GTX 670), it seems to slow down a little.

I have only really tested this on a couple of scenes though, so you may get different results. You'll have to try it out.

100% agree, this feature is so important for many of my jobs. Basically any job where you need fillets but have no budget, time or patience to remodel stuff. Huge cost saver.

I've been watching the forums for news regarding this since mojave discussed rounded edges in the development build threads. I can't remember how long ago that was now but I've not heard anything since.

Some topics regarding rounded edges:

I hope AI is not removing details and blurs out the images.

"We are still working through a lot of changes required to make Network Render operational. This is directly related to AI Scene and AI Light."

Where are we on this ? Is this being worked on still for the next release ? Do you know roughly how long before we can network render ?

"add sharpening detailing" - 1000% agree. We need to have the ability not just to have it noise free, but sharp and really sharp for some things. I set my FILTER to 1.0 but I feel it needs to push harder into a really sharp image.

Quick question...

If NETWORK RENDERING is currently disabled, what about the ORC ? If I buy an ORC subscription, does the ORC currently support this v4.00-XB3 build, or will it only work with the official commercial releases like 3.08 ?
