Octane render response time

Hi

Now that i can smoothly tumble inside the viewport i have encountered other issues that are slowing my work compared to the older pipeline i had

3dsMax + Vray , Corona , Fstorm

When I duplicate an obeject Octane just doesn't want to update the render or takes forever and after the viewport is almost locked and not moving
until i delete the duplicated object.

Another issue is the speed of the startup render compared to the other renderers.

Is this an issue only for me or an issue with the current build?

And here is how E Cycles handles it

https://youtu.be/-gjg5uhO7kU

You can see that it is much slower without the Denoising than Octane but it starts faster and updates the duplicated
object quite fast while with Octane i have often the render not start at all or take very long to start.

The issue with updates when hiding collections is fixed in 20.7 and higher version. What version are you using?

J.C Hi

I have an issue with duplicating an object , almost every time the render does not restart after that unless i delete that object, could be related
to being in the same collection.

I am using V . 2020.1.RC2 - 21.4

Edit: v 2019.1.5 - 20.7 does not have this issue, thanks! A duplicated object updates instantly even faster than in Cycles or Fstorm
Though the start of the render still takes 16 seconds.

Is there an issue with Undo?

in V 2019.I.5 20.7 if I Undo then Octane does not really like it , it takes a while to recover and i have to relunch the render.

In this version as well the Octane Server needs to be relunched often since it just disconnects.

Does it happens with complex or simple scene?

Blender's undo system is quite primitive and not well designed, since it basically needs to update the whole scene to the previous state, not just the last operation.
So an undo basically triggers a total render update in Octane.

Ah , I see.. will just try to remember not to undo while rendering.

I would say it's not a complex scene yet , just an archviz house.

Yes, this is a serious issue. The undo system in Blender 2.8 is being totally redesigned at the moment. I hope it will be finished soon as current system really breaks flow and interactivity when working on "heavy" scenes.

This is marked as normal priority task although I think it should have been resolved long time ago with the release of Blender 2.8. This issue was present in 2.7 too.

The more polygons/textures the longer it takes Blender to undo the change.
