I tried to output a z-depth map, but I get very strange results.
Can anyone walk me through the proper workflow?

Thanks
James

In the Render Tab -> Octane Kernel -> select Info-channel -> select z-depth.

then adjust Z-depth max value below, matching your scene.

Solved.

You have to do it through the compositor. Same way you do it in cycles...but I found cycles is a lot faster generating the map (if you decide to make one after the fact).
