OSL script as AOV filter?

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if it was in any way possible to have an OSL script basically affect an entire Render AOV (ex: Beauty)?

For example, let's take the OSL GaussianBlur script. While this script expects to receive an ImageTexture in its "in" port, what if it could receive a whole Render AOV (like Beauty)? This way, one of the Render AOVs could be my Beauty pass, but blurred through the OSL script.

Obviously, GaussianBlur is just an example. I know I can just blur my render in Photoshop. I'm thinking of more intricate OSL scripts that I'm currently working on locally.

Thanks a ton! :-)

Hi,
please have alook at nee Output AOVs Compositing in c4doctane 2023.1-R5, there is also a Blur AOV node:

Here is an interesting video by Raphael Rau on new Output AOVs Compositing, but please note that now c4doctane 2023.1-R5 has the same options as Standalone:

Thank you very much for your reply, Beppe!

As stated in my original message, the GaussianBlur was only an example. I'm working on a very different/separate OSL script that is not part of any currently existing AOV node, so it'd be essential that I use a method that allows me to use any OSL.

I've skimmed through Raphael's video earlier, but I'll look again! Thanks for the link!

Oops, ok, I think you need to wait for upcoming 2024.1 SDK.

Oh. Interesting. Hate to be "that guy", but is 2024.1 set to be released this year by any chance?

Thanks!
