Which Nvidia driver/CUDA version for OSX?

What is the most stable version of Octane for C4D and what Nvidia and CUDA driver versions should I be running please? I'm using Mac OS 10.13.6 (17G5019)

Just looking to get Octane running without crashing. Thanks for any pointers.

Hi,
under 10.13.6, you need CUDA 410.130:
https://www.nvidia.com/it-it/drivers/cu ... driver-it/
And the following Nvidia GPU drivers for 17G5019:
https://images.nvidia.com/mac/pkg/387/W ... 40.122.pkg

At the following link you can find the list of WebDrivers based on 10.13.X specific versions:
https://vulgo.github.io/nvidia-drivers/

Please, also make sure to have disabled the **Synchronize on geo update** option, in Octane Settings / Others,. If enabled can cause instability issues under OsX:

Thank you Beppe, that's what I have and I do have Synchronize on geo update disabled.

I get beachballs all the time in Octane and C4D, it's really unstable for me. Running a GTX1080ti in a 5,1. Never been able to figure out what's causing the instability. Redshift and Cycles4D in GPU mode are both fine on this machine, but I just prefer the look of Octane.

Is there anything else you could suggest please? Thank you.

Are you using GTX 1080 Ti also for monitor?
Please go to Apple menu, About this Mac, then press the System Report button, then go to menu File/Save, and share the resulting .spx file, thanks.
Please, also share a screenshot of c4doctane Settings/Devices, and Others panels, thanks.

Thank you Beppe.

Yes my 1080ti is running my displays, I have two Apple Cinema Displays connected to it.

Here's a link to my .spx file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w0w5m9m9j4xl3 ... o.spx?dl=0

I'm finding Octane 2019.1.4 relatively stable on my 5.1, but there are still at least 5 or 6 crashes a day, every single time when working in the node editor. But the node editor has been a crash fest on OSX since day one. I'm hoping Octane X will finally sort this out.

Hi,
thanks for sharing.
Having 2x monitors with only one GPU is not the best.
Better to have a dedicated GPU for system/monitors/OpenGL, and leave the GTX 1080 Ti for rendering only, you will also gain some VRAM.
Anyway, your Priority setting is wrong, please change the popup to LOW, if set to HIGH is like no Priority, and the GPU does not keep some power for system/monitors/OpenGL.

Thank you Beppe, understood about running 2x displays off the card I'm using for rendering. I'm just hoping Octane X and the new Mac Pro will be out before I have to add any new hardware to this setup though. I've set Priority to Low, thank you for the pointer.

@mitchino - are you getting beachballs or does C4D enexpectedly quit on you? For me it's beachballs every time, it could be triggered by simply moving an object with Octane's live viewer running, changing a light or a texture. I stick with it because Octane's output is so aesthetically beautiful.

Just wanted to update this thread in case anyone else searches for this issue - setting GPU Priority to LOW as per Beppe's suggestion has solved my probelm with Octane crashing. Been using it all week and not had a single crash or beachball. Octane's output is just beautiful to me, glad I stuck with it and thank you again for helping Beppe.
