IES Lights Square?!

Starting to get really confused here. I tried using IES lights with 3.08 RC3 and it doesn't scale my ies lights correctly. They are square like they are just emitting form the square it creates in c4d. It doesn't scale correctly like a normal IES light would.. I haven't used IES in awhile, have they changed or something?

Thanks

Did you clicked IES icon on the tag? It will create a preset for you.

Yeah, I go to octane dialog, objects, lights, octane IES light. Then I apply my ies to the distribution. Keep getting the same results... I guess i get slightly different results when I try different ones, but still not a single one I try is correlating to the correct distribution... Shouldn't you be able to place them wherever you want and they should scale correctly as well?!

Thanks

Hi,
set the Gamma of the IES file at 1, and scale down your emitter at 10x10cm or lower, to reduce the blurred effect at the borders.
If you place also a vertical plane near the light is more easy to evaluate the distribution.

Thanks Beppe,

I got it!! The problem is the scaling. You have to do what beppe said and adjust the scaling of the actual light I guess you would say in the "Details" Tab. Dial that in, then to scale the actual light bigger, you have to adjust the scale in the "Coord." tab. If you use the scale tool it changes the scale in the "Details" Tab and not in the the "Coord." tab. Therefore it wont scale correctly.

Hi,
yes correct, I would have had to specified, in the Details tab of the Area Light attribute, sorry.
Anyway, great to hear that the issue is solved :)
Happy GPU Rendering,
