Hi all,

It's been a while since the last exporter update, but here it is :) The changes since version 0.10 are:

  • fixed a bug that breaks the camera export if the camera is located at (0,0,0)
  • added export of film offset of camera
  • the camera up vector is now kept as straight up as possible, which should simplify the navigation in Octane while using exported camera data
  • the export dialog is now non-modal, i.e. you can continue using C4D while the dialog is open and dock it wherever you want
  • merged export dialog with animation export dialog
  • shrunk extent of export dialog
  • moved Octane banner and version to new about dialog
  • fixed a bug in the failure count during animation export: it gets now reset to 0 as soon as a frame has been rendered correctly
  • added some thresholds after an animation frame has been rendered, to cope better with file system delays

Originally I was also planning to add an automatic "Octane-kill" if the Octane process has been living a lot longer than for the previous frame(s). In the end, I think I found the problems in Octane that caused those issues and there will be an Octane update soon. -> I didn't add the automatic "kill".

EDIT: I have updated the plugin to version 0.11b. This should fix the incorrect up-vector calculation, reported by Bepeg4d.

EDIT2: Sorry for the hassle, but I found two more issues in the camera export and fixed those. Please update to version 0.11c.

hi marcus,
thanks for the update :)
i've found a little problem, if i change the offset y parameter in c4d than, in octane, the up parameter is mess up; this doesn't happen with offset x parameter off corse
edit: it seems that the problem happen if the camera position is below 0, if the camera is over 0 all it's ok

Thanks for feedback. I will release a fix tonight.

Cheers,
Marcus

after a bit more testing it seems that it has nothing to do with camera offset but it's related to the up vector only. if a camera is under y=0 the view is turned 90° ~

Ok, it should be fixed now. Please let me know, if there are still problems.

Thanks,
Marcus

Hi all.

Just want to let you know, that I had to fix two more camera issues:

- When the camera was rotated upside-down (i.e. the floor the upwards) it exported incorrectly.
- There were some inconsistencies in camera motion blur for some corner cases. To fix that, the y-axis of the camera is exported as up-vector during animation export (as it was done in version 0.10). This should keep things consistent.

Both issues are fixed with version 0.11c. Please update to this version and let me know if everything works correctly.

Thanks,
Marcus

I seem to be unable to get the plugin to work... It just doesn't appear anywhere in Cinema.
(as usual copied the folder 'octaneExport' to the plugin folder after unzipping)

Did you wonload the correct plugin version ? Which version of C4D are you using? Please also have a look at the C4D console: Do you see any error messages there?

Cheers,
Marcus

I'm on Win 7 32 bit, using Cinema4D R12 32bit... so I downloaded the Windows version for R12.
It doesn't show up anywhere and the console doesn't mention it.
