Next frame exporting in background

Hi,

Just wondering would it be possible to improve c4d-octane plug-in
so we could render animation a bit faster.

Currently plug-in is exporting/saving obj when octane finish rendering frame.
My suggestion is
can you do background export of next frame when octane renders image and/or export whole sequence of .obj files.
That could speed up whole process when I'm rendering at work on 3x machines.

example:
I got four shots to render each shot is 150frames long.
Calculation of one frame is 8min exporting time 30sec

with current version of plugin (live export) it takes
480sec + 30sec per frame
150f + 510s = 21h 15m

and background export

480 sec/frame
150f x 480s = 20h

1h15min it's a lot for me

Another useful option to add button "generate script " to render without using C4D.
so I could run octane without locking cinema.
similar to houdini2octane

would be great if that's possible to add in future release of plug.

thanks
Krzysztof

This would be great for any program, I was thinking the exact same thing the other day.

Hi Krzysztoff,

the Octane exporter for C4D 0.08 should do this already?!? I.e. during animation rendering, the plugin starts the export of the next scene 4 seconds (if I remember it correctly) after the launch of Octane. I will have a look at it, when I'm at home.

Regarding the script: That should be easy on Windows. What is the preferred output on Macs?

I'm currently working on 0.09 which should have a few improvements in the UI. And I guess for Octane 2.3 there will be more changes necessary. But we'll see. I hope to release 0.09 maybe this weekend - depending on how much time I have the coming days.

Cheers,
Marcus
