Hi,

I unfortunately still have many problems with the plugin and R14 at the moment.
(But regardless, I find it very good that the plugin is already published and you can experiment
with it (unlike VrayforC4D :( ))

- Objects with applied materials to polygon selection tags are not visible in the LiveViewer.
- The overall handling of the material system is very confusing and with strange presets atm.
- Problem, that textures have to be in the C4D "tex" folder - otherwise they get lost after applying
a second or third one.
- "orbit" navigation stops after some time in LiveViwer (I still can pan and zoom, but no more orbit)

Btw can anyone script some icons (like the ones from aixsponza for VRay) for materials "diffuse", "glossy" "specular",
also for octane lights, cameras etc.?
I have no idear, how to do that. It would be very handy, if you can place them in the C4D-Layout.

Maybe a stupid question, but is it "generally possible" in future, to have the LiveViewer directly
integrated in the main C4D viewport? I never know where to place the window for the LiveViewer so
that its not in the way.
Is it "generally possible" in future, to get same "Node-System" for materials like in Standalone?

some is very strange, i suppose something is wrong or need more help.

Because selection tag is working nicely.

For understand the material system, you must check standalone and Octane manual also. It's exact same concept.

for tex folder: actually you don't need to put there. If you you use absolute path, plugin look there. If it's in preset library copy to project tex directory.
If you don't give absolute path, looks to project folder and tex folder. I suppose you have a problem with paths.
Actually development version improved for unicode characters

For orbit: check for pick focus mode is not active

You can use Live viewer material menu for creating preset materials. Development version has improved for creation materials

if you use a preset material then bitmaps has path like that begin with "preset:\\texture.jpg"
i put a image to show, absolute path and selection tag usage

When I create a material I add a "imagetexture"-node in diffuse and
then I click on the "imagetexture" and there I load a bitmap there.
And then I get only the imagename in the slot.

Do I have manually type the whole path in that field?
how do I use a "preset" material?

(Btw. selection tags are working now! Don't know why it does'nt before)

did you use imageTexture with Octane Materials?
Basically if you choose a image from not in project path, c4d will ask to make it relative. If you click no, your path will be absolute
A note: you can use c4d bitmaps or octane imageTexture on Octane Materials. But ImageTexture has gamma setting and scale

Edit:
Live View->Create Materials->Octane Diffuse Material

I don't want to copy the bitmaps - I want to leave them
where they are (except I want to export the whole c4d scene)
There is no option comming for absolute or realative path.
Not here, but I know that popup.

-check image. you may ask for relative paths!!!did you check for another disc?

-Also basicaly standart materials works, but only some slots has exact octane nodes like diffuse,bump,normal,etc..
Otherwise Octane materials has no together specular,reflection slots. one is for glossy, reflection is for specular materials.
Because of similar conditions, for complex materials not meet exact conversion.

If you happy with standart you may use.

as I said, I want to keep all textures
on my other harddisk.
So for now, the only possibility is, to copy them
to main project folder?
