Hello,

I made a little script for Cinema 4D R13 to import the camera of a OCS file.
It was for a personnal issue but maybe it can help persons who find a good camera in Octane and want exactly the same in C4D.

Update : it now support the resolution and the sun light direction.

v 1 : import the position, rotation, fov and lensShift of the current camera.
v 1.01 : all cameras and focus support.
v 1.2 : import the resolution and the sun direction.

Installation :
Open the Script Manager (Script > Script Manager) and import the PY file downloaded (File > Import).
Run it (Script > Custom scripts > Importer OCS), select your OCS file and you will have the choice to add the camera, resolution value and sun direction to your C4D document !

thanks again César for the script
it works like a charm but not with older ocs, right?
anyway it's very useful and it's quite easy to translate older ocs in newer one ;)

Thanks. In fact, I don't have old OCS file, I discovered Octane with the 1.0 beta 2.57, so yes, I can not ensure that it works with previous versions.

But if you need to make it work with older versions, send me an old OCS file, I will see what can I do (as the structure is still in XML).

hi César,
thanks for your time ;)
here is an old ocs, it's the benchmark scene of the v246, if you want to try.

I have another question, do you think is possible to catch also a camera in a render target?
it would be very useful :D

Hi César!

Very nice script, I tried it and it works. Thank you very much.
One thing might be very usefull too: If it also supports the focalDepth values of Octane, which is the focus distance in C4D.

Useful especially for the AF picker!
If I set up a scene in octane, use the AF picker to focus, save the project and then import the camera from Octane to C4D, everything is fine (except the focus value), but when I go back to Octane with the same camera, the object is out of focus.
Would be nice to implement that, because finding a camera position in Octane and focusing the object with the AF picker is very fast and intuitive...
That might be even useful to find a good starting and end camera position for animation. Does anybody know, if there is a way in C4D to do a transition or "automatic automation" from one camera to another camera?? Would be awesome.

Thanks again for your scripting time.

bepeg4d : Hmm it seems to work fine with this version, here is a screenshot :

When you import the obj file, just make sure that you put the scale factor at 100 cm, maybe it's the source of the difference.

ChrisVis : For the camera transition, I don't really see an automatic way to do it, you can manually copy the coordinates value of your final camera on your first camera in an other keyframe, it should work.

I updated the script, it now import all the cameras of the OCS file and the focus value !

Any other suggestions are welcome.

wow, great improvement, it's fantastic to catch all the cameras even in a rendertarget, and yes you were right about the scale factor ;)
thanks again, the 1.01 rocks :D

Thanks César!

Your script is very useful to me, and animation works great the way you suggested (just copy the coordinates and parameters of the end camera to the start camera track, and the animation is done).

I have both, C4D and Octane open while doing it, and it is a very fast way to animate the camera.
First I position the Camera in Octane, focus my object with the focus picker and get instant feedback, of how my startfame will look like in the final animation! Then just hit save in Octane, open the script in C4D and import the camera. Then back in Octane I reposition the camera for my endframe, and do the whole process again. Copy the important parameters (Position, Rotation, FocalDepth) to the start camera track and done!

One more Question:
What do you mean with support for all cameras? Is there a possibility to have multiple cameras in octane? Did I miss it so far?
