Black AO-Shadows - why?

Hi guys,

I need to fix a weird problem with Direct Lighting Kernel: AO Shadows are allways too dark.
How can I get rid of the black ceiling? It's textured with the same mat as walls but comes out black. :-(

I want to render this interior scene with DL because it must be as fast as possible for animation. PT is way too slow ...

Thanks for your help!

Ron

What do you get with GI_Diffuse instead of GI_AO?

I tried that of course. The result is fine, but needs 1:45 to render - quite the same as PT.

Hi Ron,
in DL AO, the indirect light color is taken from the opposite direction of the environment color.
To solve, place a white/gray color in the ground of your environment.

Hi Beppe,

thanks for your answer!
Do you mean Environment Color inside the Octane Settings? This is already set to white.
If not, please give me a hint what exactly you mean by "place a white/gray color in the ground of your environment".

Thanks again
Ron

Hi Beppe,

I figured it out. It's that easy - if you know where to set it up.

Thanks!
